Final Streetcar was supposed to be delivered today under the original contract. Late Fee has been hiked to $3,300 per day

Streetcar supporters deflect the criticism by accurately noting much of the project they can control is on schedule and on budget. The tracks have been built from the River Market to Union Station, and the overhead electrical wiring should be done in a few months.
One more key point: The $18 million worth of streetcars eventually will get here — possibly by late 2015 — and the system will be up and running sometime in 2016. Whether that’s before or after the artificial deadline of the Big 12 Conference men’s basketball tournament in March isn’t that essential. A few years from now, this incident could wind up as a minor blip on a $100 million project’s time line.

What is a 100% low floor streetcar? What makes it different from a 70% low floor one?

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
I've been on both and find 100% works better overall. With 70% with a stroller had to turn towards the middle even if there's empty space on the higher section. Drops and strollers are a pain. With 100% I could look for an aisle space both directions.ldai_phs wrote:What is a 100% low floor streetcar? What makes it different from a 70% low floor one?

What's going to be the bicycle policy going to be?
Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
It's best not to get your tire stuck in the rut alongside the track.

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
It would be beyond stupid not to have the same policy as every other city, and that's to allow bikesbbqboy wrote:What's going to be the bicycle policy going to be?
Especially give the busses have a place for them.
So the policy should be "please bike to the train!"
Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
bikes are officially allowed on board -- roll on, roll off, no racks. you'll want to stay in the middle section of the streetcar.bbqboy wrote:What's going to be the bicycle policy going to be?

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
No major movement on the remaining sections of track to pave around the slab. Still have the plate at 3rd/Grand
Utilities are marked for the street redo at 3rd/Grand. Equipment is there. Guessing this comes soon.
I see the "4th St" crosswalk curb cut was re-added. The curb work removed it which is an ADA violation. The crossing just to the south hits a pole so it has to be a casualty and it's not a major detour compare to a whole block distance.
The stop is half done at both 4th, 7th NB. The vertical concrete and connecting pieces are the main part left
9th SB has forms up. It's super close to Ten Main center so it will be good for library access.
14th SB just has fences around it at this point. But it's been mentioned to have work starting.
19th SB has this weird wooden and plastic platform where it will be. Not quite sure what this is about.
Still no completion work (sign, shelter) at 16th NB and 19th NB, guessing the non-event stops will get this all at once.
Of the 16 stops, that's 7 with actual work through to completion.
The 20th St/Main northeast corner is done at Main and looks outstanding. They actually take an entire lane out going WB and will be great space on First Friday

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
A company was out cleaning up under the plate at 3rd/Grand today. It looks like the track slab will get poured at the track meeting point really soon.
The track slab concrete is stagnant at Union Station. No new movement there.
So the last sections of just track remain as they have been for several weeks.

lost in this week's vehicle headlines: http://www.kcstreetcar.org/kc-streetcar ... rtnership/
KCATA also helped streetcar procure an operator and shared their dispatch & scheduling system, both under separate agreements. They are being compensated for all of the above and are handling the efforts with existing staff, thus streetcar is a financial gain for KCATA.This support includes:
- - Inclusion of KC Streetcar into KCATA regional radio operations
- Inclusion of KC Streetcar in KCATA’s Regional Call Center Passenger Information Hotline
- Federally Required ADA Complementary Paratransit Service
- On-Request Safety Oversight Assistance
- On-Request Bus Bridge Services
- On-Request Technical and Operations Support Services
