All you have to do is review contracts for the other teams in similar markets. It was like that years ago when the Kings were in Kemper and after they left for the Comets.

Pretty amazing to think this thread is 117 pages long and still going strong.
Let the message board decide on a hypothetical event that will never occur!

Chris Hansen, Thomas Tull planning separate bids for the Atlanta Hawks, per report
The Atlanta Hawks were to reportedly have officially hit the open market on Monday. While the probability that the Hawks would be a candidate for relocation is microscopic at best, Chris Hanson and Thomas Tull are preparing separate Hawks to Seattle bids according to a report from Grantland's Bill Simmons.

http://www.kansascity.com/sports/nhl/ar ... rylink=cpyCould Lamar Hunt Jr. be the eventual answer to Kansas City’s search for an owner of an NHL team to play at the Sprint Center? Not yet.
“That’s a natural question for people to ask,” Hunt said, “but honestly I can’t say today that Kansas City would be a strong NHL market. What we have to do is grow the youth program and get more sheets of ice in the community. You need more skaters when they’re young.
“Kansas City has great sports fans, they attend things so well. Let’s see what happens. Right now we’ve got the Missouri Mavericks in the ECHL and let’s make it great for the whole community. Independence and that whole area has done a great job.”...
Paul McGannon, president of NHL21, the grass-roots organization dedicated to bringing the NHL to Kansas City, said he was “thrilled” to hear about Hunt’s involvement.
“It’s great that a person of this amount of influence is getting involved in the sport of hockey in Kansas City,” McGannon said. “We’ve tried to put all the pieces together, meaning Kansas City has the demographics, Kansas City has the state of the art arena in Sprint Center. The missing link has been an ownership group with the wherewithal to (own) an NHL team. So to have a person of this influence obviously is well-connected. We’ll see where it goes.

One thing I've never understood is the local media (The Star and local tv news) completely fails in reporting on any of our minor league sports, or even most local colleges. And they used to buy stories about the Wizards/Sporting - only until they started doing well and there was a public outcry did they start reporting. If you saw hockey in the headlines of the paper or on the local news, it would help generate and maintain interest in the teams and increase participation.

when does sprint center lose its "state-of-the-art" tag? it's approaching 10 years old already, isn't it? if we don't get a team in the next couple years, the "feature" of having a new arena won't exist anymore. i mean, you and i will know better, but these types of people that'll claim that are the same that think that the edward jones dome in stl is antiquated and needs hundreds of millions of dollars of public-funded renovations.

Arenas and stadiums are much like computers and smart phones. They are state of the art until a new model comes out. The old model computer and smart phone may still be quite functional but it lacks some bells and whistles that the newer model has.

Doesn't sound too promising to me. Of course he could be downplaying his intentions. Any losses he might incur with this team would probably just be pocket change to him and any co-owners he might have. On the other hand with a NHL team he might just have to empty the billfold quite often.“That’s a natural question for people to ask,” Hunt said, “but honestly I can’t say today that Kansas City would be a strong NHL market. What we have to do is grow the youth program and get more sheets of ice in the community. You need more skaters when they’re young.

Seattle mayor: Arena deal could be adjusted for NHL team
Murray's words come as an attempt to place an NHL team in Las Vegas progresses; about 7,000 potential season-ticket buyers have signed up in about two weeks, with 10,000 believed necessary to further the process.
"Based on the numbers I'm hearing second- and third-hand, (prospective owner Bill Foley) seems to be doing quite well," commissioner Gary Bettman said in Washington on Wednesday night.
If/when the NHL expands, two teams would make sense, and adding two Western teams would put 16 in each conference. Quebec City is the third potential location.

If the Bucks didn't get a new Arena by 2017 would have relocated.

Is AEG still paying a $10 million per year penalty and the operating costs for the Sprint Center for not having obtained a professional NBA or NHL team yet?
