I know this is ironic, but it would be nice to have. they're good at building dense structures on tight lots so I could see them doing urban wellchaglang wrote:PIZZA RANCHKCMax wrote:A Ross Dress 4 Less? Maybe they'll tear down that nasty garage and build something more useful [insert surface parking joke/not joke here].ColumbusParkian wrote:do you think this was part of the reason for The Stables going under? Maybe they'll be rehabbing that property as well, since they'll share a garage entrance.

I don't know really know exactly what goes into it. I've gleaned from scouring these permits that developers have to submit their plans to the city, and various departments and bureaucracies have their say. If the reviewer has an issue, they leave a comment, and those can be viewed by digging into the permit. My best guess is that the Quality Control Review is a check for missing or incorrect forms in the submittal.smh wrote:Can you explain to me what a Quality Control Review is by chance?
For instance, here are the comments from a Quality Control Review that was deficient for the new One Light Tower. It's pretty much someone just asking for more forms.
That's my best guess at least.

Got it, so it sounds like at a minimum it is something worth keeping an eye on just to glean additional info. Thanks.KCDowntown wrote:I don't know really know exactly what goes into it. Additional permit filed yesterday. Gives the impression work is about to start. Hopefully that is the case.

Glad to see work taking place. Run by there a lot and was wondering when work would start to begin in earnest. The outside of the building has great stone work.

Found it: reinforced concrete as the main. Also terra cotta and brick work on the outside. You should've just included that in your original comment Moderne, would've saved me the time.

It was an opportunity for you to learn about the beauty of vintage terra cotta as a cladding material. Now imagine the now stucco covered Oak Tower covered in gothic terra cotta.

Re: OFFICIAL: Gumbel Condos
Seeing how awesome Oak Tower's former glory is depresses. I know there wasn't much thought to historic preservation in the past, but it is truly a shame that this building was "modernized" with the stucco cladding. Was there any real reason this was done? Such as the terra cotta falling off the building or something along those lines?

Interior construction/renovation is underway. Looking forward to this corner coming alive with tourists and such. Easy walk to City Market from there.

I am as well.
If the Tiger Tail is (somehow) still open by the time the Hampton Inn opens, I'll be curious to see how(?) they'll market themselves to the hotel's guests.
