Went out to NFM today, hadn't been to VW in over a year. I was blown away by the sight of the Cerner twins. They are an atractive duo, sort of a modern interpretation of the old computer punch cards. What got to me was that they are in KCK. KCK never had much in the way of office buildings, being a blue collar town. These buildings represent jobs that pay at least the present day equivalent as the old union manufacturing jobs that grew KCK. Coming into the metro on I-70 west always has been unimpressive, but that has changed.

Not really. Just a car dealer trying to expand its market, trying a new way to sell used cars. The dealer probably buying off-lease and rental cars. Tell them what you are looking for and they will try to buy it with the set fee the markup and their profit. Son has bought a few cars that way.

Those tend to be new sports cars, not used cars from Woody's Used Car lot in Chillicothe.

I saw the used car dealer last time i was there. it's extremely easy to miss.

The Star: As Kansas agonizes over budget, Wyandotte County ponders a $12 Million annual windfall

Village West's bonds will be paid off early, at some point in 2017, freeing up a decent wad of cash. It's about time WyCo started reinvesting in its old urban core, yet it seems that the early favorite in the race to spend the money is a proposal to use a chunk of it to fund a scant decrease property tax rates. Other brilliant ideas mentioned in the Star's article include spending millions to subsidize an effort to bring a grocery store or other basic services downtown.

Not mentioned: investment in transit infrastructure. But if WyCo's leaders want my advice—and I know, they don't—they should plan to set aside about half of the annual sum and start talking to KCMO about getting its streetcar line extended across the West Bottoms. It's only 1.1 miles down Minnesota Avenue and the viaduct between Sixth Street and the state line, and if WyCo had a credible source for $50MM–$60MM, you might think that would get a serious conversation started. ...

Gondola link between KCK and KCMO downtown. 100% serious. Has to be much cheaper than going down the valley with rail. Plus it would get people to go to DT KCK just for kicks.
