On August 16, 2011, my family and I visited the Missouri State Fair at Sedalia, Missouri. The sky was overcast and we did experience some rain. The weather and the day of the week (Tuesday) kept the crowds away.
Lots of stuff to buy.
Lots of stuff to eat.
Touted as the world's greatest carnival. Okay.
Gitcher tickets richere!
Supporting schools.
No waiting for these rides!
Same for the drag race slide.
Must have been fun.

One little guy almost had all the rides to himself.
Stepping back a little...
Who would ride this thing?
Oh.
And they're off! Just before rotating the image to maintain the correct perspective, I noticed my son and husband in the bottom right corner, so I left them in.
My son took this picture with my camera, and a bunch of others among the bumper cars.
Another three tickets, another ride.
He won a small prize for all his effort. Reminds me of the stock market.
She tried her hand at it.
Square pants buddies.
What's a fair without big farm machinery?
Two big wheels.

Farm equipment was on display. This thing seems like something that belongs to a monster.
I guess this one splits logs.
This one makes bacon.
Future Farmers tended to their livestock in this building.
One such.
Prize squash.
How does a ham win a competition?
Or popcorn? Wouldn't you have to pop and taste it?
These flowers were in a metal bucket, and I have a picture of it. But this overhead shot was better.
These were just visitors.
The garden needed a little upkeep.
Hi, Ho, Silver! I mean, Green!

These are the last pictures of our day at the Missouri State Fair, on August 16, 2011.
I have pictures of the actual turtle, who got caught in a plastic can holder, but the wall poster was better.
This thing is called "The Tilt."
For those who care, the border is one solid color.
Strolling along the midway.
I was so taken by what looks like a bull wearing black velvet pants. I had no idea that fur could look like that. He was very well groomed. I wonder if he won a prize.
The inevitable petting zoo.
Strange bedfellows. We were supposed to be quiet around these guys, as they are nocturnal.
Why don't these people feed us!
Time to leave the fair.
Signature salad for dinner that night. Quite tasty.
