You can see Livestrong Park in its debut tonight as Sporting KC takes on the Chicago Fire at 9 pm on ESPN2. Hopefully a raucous home crowd can help SKC turn their season around!

Just an incredible difference. Watching games before, it looked minor league. Now, in tight shots, I don't think you could tell the difference between this and an EPL stadium aside from the lack of a second deck. Really looks first rate and its great to hear such a raucous crowd. Now if only they could start winning!

The pitch looks HUGE. Is it the camera angle or are MLS teams allowed to have different pitch sizes depending on the stadium? The one at CAB looked tiny compared to this.

the higher you go with the camera the more you get a sense of the spacing between players.  For most MLS games being played in these smaller stadiums the camera is pretty low (thus foreshortening the apparent distance between people).  I'm guessing the pitch is wider by a couple of yards, but what you're sensing is the higher camera (compared to CAB).  I actually prefer the camera a lot higher.
KC Region is all part of the same animal regardless of state and county lines.

That's usually the reason for a SSS, wider pitch than a football stadium.

Corners.
I may be right.  I may be wrong.  But there is a lot of gray area in-between.

The corners of many of the stadiums by the field do not allow for a wider playing field for soccer, unless you shorten the field.

It's width and capacity you are right.....80k seats in America for soccer makes the 15k disappear.  Having a properly sized stadium is immeasurable to get the right atmosphere for a sport.  Don't mind AKP, he is bogged down in what he was told 30 years ago in one situation.

Does a wider pitch help or hurt offense? It seems like it would open up more passing lanes, but it also seems like teams could stall more.

Anyway, kinda disappointing game after much hoopla. Only a couple real scoring opportunities (and one disallowed goal...well two if you count the cow) and a blatantly bad no-call near the end.

Some of the flashback clips were fun. I had completely forgotten about the hideous unis the team had back in the 90s.

I believe it is sold out.  Can't get tix through the box office.

I imagine brokers will have plenty of scalpers lurking around though.

Anybody know what KCK ordinances exist regarding ticket scalping.  I assume they'll be out there, right?

They had decent seats available yesterday.  Perhaps they held some back until then in order to fulfill potential promotional tie-ins.  Not sure if there will be any walkup seats at the park, though.
