Lots of backhanded compliments but overall positive article. Grid will love the airport comments.

Positive article? It made it seem like KC is a ghost town with no other decent sized city within 500 miles. They must have taken 435 from the airport straight to the stadiums and straight back.KCPowercat wrote: Lots of backhanded compliments but overall positive article. They said the airport made it feel that way.....which it does. I still read it as a positive article for KC and us soccer and where its going.
They were here for 3 days I believe. Maybe 2.

Looking through some of those articles, I'm startled by the lack of professional polish. I thought stateside news editors were bad.

heh.... yeah.... what a dickish article. The MLS didn't start in 2006.... and the Rafa Marquez deal won't be finalized to sometime next week. All the same, it's good to see the Kansas City Wizards getting press
KC Region is all part of the same animal regardless of state and county lines.

Kansas City may be slower paced and more remote than most US citiesKCPowercat wrote: They said the airport made it feel that way.....which it does. I still read it as a positive article for KC and us soccer and where its going.

Re: Wizards to face Man U
that 3rd one I took as a positive to US infrastructure?
Those other 2 are pretty correct if you think of some international british soccer club touring the US....we aren't a top 15 market.

Man U beats the MLS All Stars 5-2. The attendance was 70,728 in Houston!

Re: Wizards to face Man U
It was cool to see Chicharito score his first goal, but the MLS All Stars looked pretty lame. I get that it is an All Star game, that they don't play together, etc., but outside of a few players, it would be easy for a Man U fan to dismiss the MLS as not having much talent. Sure, it is one of the best teams in the world, but they are missing some key components and are in pre-season shape.AllThingsKC wrote: Man U beats the MLS All Stars 5-2. Whoever is in charge of creating the MLS All Star Game schedule should be fired. I'm not sure how far in advance they knew about the CONCACAF Champions League schedule, but when you see LA Galaxy may play the night before the ASG, wouldn't you be concerned that Beckham and Donovan may not be available for the biggest showcase of talent the league has? Overall, people got what they wanted. They saw one of the best teams in the world score a bunch of goals. I always wish to see the MLS prove its quality... though perhaps they did.
Re: Wizards to face Man U
Actually, I care how people view KC or what people's image or first and last impression of KC is. I know how bad KCI makes KC look. I've been saying it for years.KCPowercat wrote: Grid will love the airport comments.
I'm in the minority though. Most people in KC don't even respect KC, so it's understandable that they don't give shit what outsiders think of the city, especially if it means they will have to walk another five minutes to get to an airport gate.
That was a positive article? Made it sound like the game was played in Salina.

GRID logic 101 - "If you disagree with me, you have no respect for KC - a place I don't respect enough to even live in".
