All of the development in Eastland and Hartmen Center seems to be in a really low-lying area, and it doesn't look like the Little Blue River channel doesn't have much room to accomodate excess water. On the southwest corner of 291 and 40 Hwy there are new houses almost righ up against the river.
How did this area do in the 1993 flood? While I think it's great that the eastern side of the metro is getting some great development, I wonder if we'll be bailing them out it in a few years if it floods. It looks a like like the intensive development going on in western Chesterfield in suburban St. Louis, an area that is definitely in a flood plain.
Is the Little Blue Valley in a Flood Plain?
Is the Little Blue Valley in a Flood Plain?
