apparently they do:
After adding artisanal ice cream to the shop at 1819 McGee St. last spring, the owner is now venturing out with a new ice cream shop south of the Country Club Plaza.
KC Region is all part of the same animal regardless of state and county lines.

I'm curious, though, I'd read somewhere the new shop was going to be soft serve. I'm not sure I believe that, but I'm guessing that would be a different product than that sold at the McGee shop.

It's not a rumor that WF is trying to sell that location at 43rd and Main. They are still under an Order from the FTC to divest themselves of that property. The deadline is currently March 8, 2010.

Yeah, I thought it was weird too. But frozen custard and frozen yogurt places manage to be soft serv-ish and high-brow (relatively) at the same time, so I wondered if that was the angle. Soft serve is a trend in artisan ice cream right now. My favorite ice cream in Berkeley, CA was Sketch (now closed) which made artisan soft serve (eggless - just whole local organic milk + real fruit or flavors), also granitas (shaved ice) & fudgesicles made w/ agave nectar. They had artisan toppings to match: salted caramel sauce, candied walnuts, cocao nibs, pomegranate seeds, etc...The owners of Sketch initially started off with more traditional hard ice cream but switched to soft-serve as they said it aided in maintaining consistency in texture & temperature
For a while vanilla soft serve w/ olive oil & sea salt was quite the rage on dessert lists at many places around the Bay Area.

Took the out of town in-laws here today. Very good ice cream and sorbet and my father-in-law said there was a sign that they use Shatto milk. about 3.55 for a small (with up to two flavors, just enough ice cream) and 4 something for a regular (up to three flavors)
I had pineapple cilantro sorbet and lemon sorbet. Lemon was very tart but pineapple cilantro was excellent and surprisingly delicious. The rest of the group ordered caramelized banana ice cream and french lavender (banana tasted just like banana), Venezuelan dark chocolate (excellent and chocolaty and bitter), salted pretzel and strawberry balsamic, (very strawberry), goat cheese and cherry (very good, sweet), peanut butter and cinnamon (tasted just like Penzey's Vietnamese cinnamon).
all in all it was great and for the five of us we spent $20.87. there were quite a few people there sitting outside enjoying the beautiful day.

we checked out this place yesterday (memorial day) around 6pm and it was very busy. a good sign!
the interior is extremely austere - pretty cool.
i ordered vanilla bean and fleur de sel caramel. both were excellent! my fiancee got pineapple cilantro sorbet and rosemary caramel ice cream. the pineapple cilantro sorbet is really delicious! rosemary caramel ice cream was good, but it wouldnt be my top choice for ordering. tried lemon sorbet and lavender ice cream, and both were excellent. i think we'll be going here a lot this summer!

Line out the door at 8:00 pm on Saturday evening. One of the girls said the line had basically been like that all day. Lots of old people enjoying at well, I found that a little surprising.
We tried the following:
French Lavender (excellent, fragrant, subtle, and smooth A)
Mango sorbet (so flavorful! really bold and strong flavor, A+)
Sweet Corn (good, not memorable B)
Overall: awesome addition to the neighborhood, the price for the quality of the product seems fine, Spin might as well stop serving gelato next door.
We tried the following:
