Fascinating pictures.  What a hard life that must have been.  Can you imagine those dirt streets when it rained?  The picture of the family outside their log cabin reminded me of a wonderful book - Pioneer Women.  Oral histories done in the 1920's of early Kansas women settlers.  It's a wonderful book and I highly recommend it.
