Definitely not. It's a shame, but beer regionality is one of the things that makes traveling great.

I read that you might hang out in Santa Monica Sunday evening.  I'll be on the Promenade listening to some of the live performers so if you happen to pass by that way I'll say hi.

Drive from portland to Astoria, if you can.
if you can, go west from portland to Tillamook and try the cheese - and then head north along the coast.  the drive along the 101 there is fantastic, and the drive between portland and the coast is misty, and beautiful.  i was there exactly two years ago this week, and wish i was there right now.

in astoria, i really don't know where to go, but just check out this perfectly preserved fishing town built on a hill across from washington state - and where goonies and kindergarten cop were filmed!

oh, and driving in seattle ain't bad at all, but don't go any further east than the columbia river in the middle of washington state - its a desolate, dry flatland between there and Spokane...

alas, astoria is beautiful... but there is nothing to do there (other than locate the goonies houses).

+ ship's inn for fish and chips and Smoked salmon from Joesphson's

We like to  cross over the bridge and go back the Washington side til we reach the Cathlamet Ferry-

bauha, try A Nebraska Bitter at  Fulton Pub. I'm not Kidding.
Are you going to crawl up Hawthorne? I made stops At Lucky Labrador and the Barley Mill(Where I had the Cornhusker Beer(Named for the Street the Fulton is on) last Sunday. Tried a couple of Roots Organic Ales too. There on 7th Ave just S. of Hawthorne.
New (since I've last been) Brew place in Alberta District, but I'm spacing on the name.  Alberta is in a bossoming mode. I always like the baseball bar on S. side of Hawthorne across from Powell's too, but for the Yankess stuff.
The Henry's place is pretty cool too, but a bit sleek for me.

I've done Astoria before, and I've done Tillamook and the coast too, along with the Gorge and Mt. St. Helens. They're all lovely, but unfortunately, they don't have any beer that would amke me travel to them, and *beer* is what this trip is about. I'm at the Hawthorne Hostel in Portland now, finally with access to the internet, along with the time an inclination to use it. So, I have completed posting my experiences from the last three days.

Day Three
Day Four
Day Five

Also, some SF fun:

The trip was awesome. I am still trying to get the entries edited and linkified. I have carved down the pictures from 413 to 242, so far. I think I'd like to get them under 200.

I have hours and hours of work ahead of me, to get everything ready.
