It's funny you say that. I've always found that they're pretty punctual because of their 1:30 license. At least compared with places like Davey's.midtown wrote: That's fine with me, just tie it to a stipulation that their shows have to actually start within 3 friggin hours of the advertised time.

You must not go out to concerts very often...midtown wrote: That's fine with me, just tie it to a stipulation that their shows have to actually start within 3 friggin hours of the advertised time.

Re: Westport's fate post-P&L
Was in Westport and Martini Corner last night. Martini Corner was in complete jam mode, all joints were hoppin and there was more pedestrian traffic than normal. Westport wasn't dead but not nearly the pre-P&L crowds, which to me was much better. Is now mostly seemingly patronized by midtowners, making it a neighborhood party place, not a metro party zone. However I left at 11pm, so it could've been it's old obnoxious late night self. Blanc Burger seems to often have a line out the door.

I do. I gave record bar two chances and had bad experiences both times. When I see a concert advertised as 8:00, I don't expect the first opener to go on at 11.dangerboy wrote: You must not go out to concerts very often...

the only shows where the bands start on the time advertised online or on a ticket are places like the sprint center. and don't expect any show at a bar to start before 10 unless there are 4 or more bands playing.

According to the Star - Blayney's is going to be evicted for not paying the rent.
The owner is blaming it on a combination of the smoking ordinance and P&L.

Sorry, but it sounds like you have unrealistic expectations for bar concerts.midtown wrote: I do. I gave record bar two chances and had bad experiences both times. When I see a concert advertised as 8:00, I don't expect the first opener to go on at 11.

Hopefully they replace it with something decent.

Huh. I don't see much overlap in patrons of Blayney's and the Power & Light District. The Star also says the landlord has a different perspective - noting that the bar has an aging clientele and hasn't made any changes to adapt over time.LenexatoKCMO wrote: According to the Star - Blayney's is going to be evicted for not paying the rent.

Lately, it seems as if The Beaumont Club has not been open. I still see shows scheduled there. Is it still a bar - or is it basically just a music venue now? There's also brown paper over the doors and many of the windows.
If it doesn't have street-level retail, it's an abortion.

I heard they were going to open up in the P&L as a gay bar, and the interior is going to be all white.

And no street entrances. Only the parking garage entrance will be used.taxi wrote: I heard they were going to open up in the P&L as a gay bar, and the interior is going to be all white.

I read it in the paper version. Went to the newly opened One More Cup in Waldo and it was printed in fine print in the section that lists Federal Liens. They were the only place of interest under the Jackson County subheading. I left it on the counter for you

There is a little info on the new Beaumont in:

Mentions that the Beach Club aspect has been removed and replaced with turf.
