Re: KC in TV and Movies
I was riding through the West Bottoms on Saturday night and ran into a full contingent of movie trailers and a set lit up and ready to go, right along the 670 bridge. Anyone know what they are filming? My friend said he saw the same group in Independence earlier in the week and judging by their locales, it is probably a horror movie.

Let's be honest. The latest season of "American Idol" didn't really get exciting until David Cook and his pointy hair shot ahead of the competition. The Oklahoma rocker, 26, handily defeated his warbling 17-year-old nemesis David Archuleta in the finals, marking a victory for stalwart grunge fans everywhere. Now the two get to face off again on the charts. Cook's first album, "David Cook," arrives Tuesday, a week after Archuleta's self-titled CD was released. Cook's record was produced by Rob Cavallo, who not only oversaw the past five Green Day discs but also Kid Rock's "Rock N Roll Jesus" and My Chemical Romance's "Black Parade." This pretty much guarantees it will rock. Plus, Chris Cornell helped write the first single, "Light On." We spoke to Cook, who grew up in Blue Springs, Mo., near Kansas City, by phone from Los Angeles.

That was the crew filming the movie "Last Will". They have been in town for the last month. It's starring Tatum O'Neil, James Brolin, Tom Berenger, Moon Zappa among others.staubio wrote: I was riding through the West Bottoms on Saturday night and ran into a full contingent of movie trailers and a set lit up and ready to go, right along the 670 bridge. They were shooting in the courthouse in Independence last week I believe. Lots of locals working on the film. Brent Huff, the director, is from Springfield.

Excellent. Thanks for the info. I'll have to remember to look this back up and see it when it is done. Pretty cool to accidentally run into them making the movie.Cyclops wrote: That was the crew filming the movie "Last Will". They have been in town for the last month. Nice topic... we have a similar one on the Omaha forum. Of course, some of the publicity we could do without... such as a timely one the other night on the series "E.R."... "If my kids grows up to be like him I'll drop him off in Omaha! You hear me!". Nice.
(for the record... lawmakers finally changed Nebraska's ill fated 'Safe Haven' law last Friday... although not in time for some poor California kid who got dropped off at a regional medical center in the pan handle just before midnight)

In fact:KCMax wrote: Good Morning America will have live shots of ice skating at Crown Center while the KC Symphony plays on Wednesday morning and their NYC studio background will be "Kansas City-themed"
Public Invited to Free "Good Morning America" Broadcast in KC
Tomorrow, ABC’s “Good Morning America” will unveil the Kansas City holiday window inside its Times Square Studios in New York City. As part of the festivities, “GMA” will broadcast several live segments from Kansas City’s Crown Center. This is where we need your help. Let’s make sure there’s a festive crowd in KC. The taping is open to the public and is free of charge. Come down for free ice skating, a preview of Kansas City Symphony's The Magic of Christmas featuring a brass quintet, the McFadden Brothers and ballroom dancers.
The Crown Center Ice Terrace will open tomorrow at 5:30 a.m. KMBC Channel 9 will be broadcasting live all morning. The “GMA” unveiling will take place around 7 a.m. with the additional KC cut-ins stretching until 8 a.m. (Note: the show is taped, so the “Good Morning America” unveiling will not be broadcast locally until the 8 o'clock hour.)

Re: KC in TV and Movies
Sorry, I love going to Omaha but I can't help but laugh at that! In KC we've been bombarded (at least on the channels I watch) with Omaha ads featuring a kid describing what a great weekend he had in Omaha with his family. I can just picture kids all over the KC metro crying whenever they see that ad. I wonder if any parents out there didn't know the law has changed and will try to leave their kids at the hospital anyway.eomaha.com wrote: Nice topic... we have a similar one on the Omaha forum. I understand the national morning news shows have been profiling our redoubtable Mayor Gloria Squitiro and her husband Mark Funkhouser. They've been featured on Good Morning America and Fox & Friends. Check it out! Publicity!

Re: KC in TV and Movies
I did. It was just people skating on the terrace. Not much time actually spend live in KC. They did have a 2 or 3 minute segment with Cleaver describing each of the ornaments, pimping the Plaza as the oldest shopping district and our tree as taller than the one in Rockefeller Plaza.LenexatoKCMO wrote: Did anybody catch GMA from the ice terrace this morning?

Re: KC in TV and Movies
Just watched GMA on my DVR....wow, Clever did a shitty job explaining things. I think he was just nervous. He started saying "this is Bartel Hall with the sky stations on top" (As they showed the other side of the ornament w/ the sprint center...not Bartel) No mention of 'this is downtown' or 'in downtown'. Then he forgot to mention that the plaza was designed after Seville...or anything like that..just said it was the first suburban shopping center. Then he said that the Nelson was designed in 1933 and was named the building of the year in 2008. No mention of the addition, Steven Holl, or anything...confusing. Oh well. Who watches that show anyway?
Re: KC in TV and Movies
I thought it was pretty lame too. He did a crappy job of explaining and I expected a segment of video of KC around the holidays. Nope, I only saw one short segment of video of the ice terrace.
Either way it's cool that there are only 3 cities in the US featured in the windows at Times Square and KC,MO is one of them.
