You think Michigan will be bowl bound. Could be tough with new offensive line and no Pat White for Dick Rod's offense.

Re: 2008 Big 12 football predictions
I think KSU, KU, and MU all win this weekend, though I believe MU has the highest chance of LOSING their opening game.
As far as the season goes, let's see...
MU 10-2, loses to Texas and ????
KU 9-3, loses to Oklahoma, Texas, and ???
KSU 6-6, loses to Kansas, Missouri, and some "easy teams."

Re: 2008 Big 12 football predictions
Just curious for you Missouri fans: if your team ends up with zero or one losses this year, having avoided Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M, will it be as illegitimate as Kansas' record last year when they didn't face Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Texas? Or will that argument somehow be waved off...

Re: 2008 Big 12 football predictions
You're kidding, right? If MU does not lose a game or only loses 1 this season, that means that MU will have a winning record against ranked teams - something that KU couldn't do last year.eliphar17 wrote: Just curious for you Missouri fans: if your team ends up with zero or one losses this year, having avoided Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M, will it be as illegitimate as Kansas' record last year when they didn't face Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Texas?

Re: 2008 Big 12 football predictions
If MU ends up with one loss prior to the bowl game - MU will have played Illinois at a neutral site (ranked 19th), Texas in Austin (ranked about 12th), KU at a neutral site (probably unranked when we play them), and Oklahoma (ranked about 4th) in KC in the big 12 championship.eliphar17 wrote: Just curious for you Missouri fans: if your team ends up with zero or one losses this year, having avoided Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M, will it be as illegitimate as Kansas' record last year when they didn't face Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Texas? Contrast that to KU last year which prior to the bowl game played one ranked team on a neutral site and lost (MU). (And don't give me the BS about K-state being ranked when KU played them - K state didn't even make a toilet bowl last year).
MU does catch a break by only playing one of the top three teams in the south. But last year KU didn't play any of the top south teams and every one of its non conference teams was a cupcake. Please don't include Texas A&M on your list of top south teams. They played in a toilet bowl and were not even in the top 35 last year.
Last year MU trounced Texas Tech and Texas A&M.
Re: 2008 Big 12 football predictions
first off, i wouldn't include texas a&m in the same breath as ou/texas/tech this year. that being said you have to look at what mizzou would face this year in regards to what kansas faced last year.eliphar17 wrote: Just curious for you Missouri fans: if your team ends up with zero or one losses this year, having avoided Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Texas A&M, will it be as illegitimate as Kansas' record last year when they didn't face Oklahoma, Texas Tech, and Texas? kansas '07 - one great team at a neutral site (mizzou) and lost. one of the weakest noncon schedules of any school in the country.
mizzou '08 - 0 or 1 loss out of illinois at a neutral site (consensus top 20 team right now), UT in austin, ku at arrowhead (likely to be a top 25 caliber team this year), and the big 12 championsihp game.
so no, the argument won't be waived off because it won't apply in the slightest. is mizzou's schedule one of the toughest country this year? no. is it remotely close to the joke that was kansas' last year? no.

Re: 2008 Big 12 football predictions
I enjoy the dual arguements here: "We play #19 Illinois...." "Don't credit KU for beating #24 KSU, they weren't ranked at the end!"
Point: let's see where the season ends to credit MU for playing ranked IL. They may finish unranked for all we know. Texas may suck this year. There are always surprises.
And remember, KU beat Va Tech (#9). MU lost to Okla (#8) twice. Badly. In the end, KU was easily the best team MU beat.

Re: 2008 Big 12 football predictions
Again, these are my purple glasses seeing things, but here goes:
MU 11-1 (before conference championship) L- UT
K-State 9-3 (KCP's picks plus Louisville and I'm feeling better about A&M)
NU 8-4, 4-4
KU 5-7, 2-6 (La Tech is improved and could give them a game, but KU wins easily at home)
CU 3-9, 2-6
ISU 4-8, 1-7 (though I could see them jumping up a notch or two)

Re: 2008 Big 12 football predictions
I have said all along, KU has a legit schedule this year. If they can go 10-2 with their schedule that will be impressive.
My guess is KU goes 8-4 and fails once again to make it the Big 12 championship game.

The Orange Bowl obviously found Kansas to be more "legit" than MU. Just sayin.

Re: 2008 Big 12 football predictions
PPA, all we can go on right now is today. you're right that illinois could turn out to be a stinker in the end, but nobody knows what will happen. likewise maybe nevada turns into a non bcs power and goes 10-2 or 11-1. the point though is that at the end of the day mizzou's schedule this year is leaps and bounds tougher than ku's last year.
at least illinois is from a major conference. who was the last team from a bcs conference that kansas played in the noncon?
