Developer Matt Abbott has purchased the Interstate Building, a 7-story structure at 13th and Locust, and plans to renovate it into high end office space. The 13th St. Bar & Grille used to occupy the restaurant space on the first floor. Tarantino's is set to move into that space in July.

Just think. This could happen while the Funk is still in office.
I may be right. I may be wrong. But there is a lot of gray area in-between.
If this place is anything like The Manhattan it will be a joke. Abbott will hire his inexperienced family members and friends along with the least qualified contractors to do lowest quality work imaginable and then try to market it as "high end"... that is if he doesn't tear it down to build a surface lot first.

I haven't heard much good from the Manhattan. They must use the same marketing firm as Founders in Union Hill.

Isn't one of Matt's friends still hottie Felicia from Donald Trump show fame? She seems like she could take care of business, as long as Matt maybe doesn't get in the way.
Kevin Collison mentioned in his article on 1006 Grand that Sherman & Associates is looking at this building for affordable housing. It would create 36 new units. Sounds like this would be in much better hands with Sherman than the other guy.

According to the twitters (@JamesRiceKC), a Holiday Inn Express is proposed for the Interstate Building. The developer wants Locust to go 2-way between 13th and 14th.

The two way on this block was approved earlier today by the KCMo Parking and Transportation Commission.
It was briefly mentioned in another thread. I like this development - should help clean and liven up a kind of desolate area. Zoo Bar on the street level of that building is a complete hole. I'm Glad that the Ambassador, Hampton Inn and now this can get up and running with such a limited number of rooms.
