A sign went up on the building today. It points to westernauto-lofts.com if I got it right but that site is not up. I didn't realize this project was a go yet.

I saw that too, it's like four stories high. I couldn't get the site to work either as I was looking forward to seeing the site. I think the project is moving along well though.

The project is moving along well. I spoke with Jim Haft of MCZ Development last week and he stated that they had overcome some major hurdles with the railroad folks (thanks to Mr. Wolfe in Public Works) and that we should see some marketing efforts soon. Apparantly this is what he meant by that. John Anderson is the marketing man at Prudential and they have the listing - if you would like to inquire. By the way - I'm told that the sign will be re-lit afterall.

Western Auto is moving forward...You will see it before PZED Committee in the next few weeks. Prudential is out as the listing agency. I've heard Reece & Nichols will take over, but nothing confirmed...

Anyone know where I can get more info on this project? I'm still unclear as to whether it'll be just regular apartments or a condo situation.

FWIW, westernauto-lofts.com exists but isn't up. So does westernautolofts.com. Interestingly, it's owned by some dude at Applebee's. WTF? Here's the whois:

Grant Lundberg? If so, they will have Summit @ Sixteenth, Accardo Lofts, and Western Auto. Looks like they have a monopoly! I guess we know who the experts are now?

Who has Dakota Lofts? Has anyone heard anything about this project? Last I heard was that they were working on financing.

R&N also has Conover Place, and will have Lighthouse lofts, if and when that ever gets started. Plus, they will be the agent for the Cadillac lofts at 29th & Gillham.

Not sure who is doing Dakota. They were in MLS about a year ago and I believe it was a RE/Max office on State Line.

Heard a rumor that Dakota will be a Prudential Listing. We'll see. It should also move forward in the next few weeks. I heard they got their financing. As far as I know, they are still planning residential, 30ish units. Adding three stories to the building.

Should be exciting with all the IRS/Post Office/Union Station development ongoing.

If they are reasonable, I might consider it, though I'd need some furniture....

Anyone see the sign lit up tonight?

Post by KCDowntown »

I saw the sign lit up earlier this evening and it looked great. The arrow was moving and the 'Western Auto' in the middle was doing all different sorts of things.
The sign adds a lot of character to the skyline and the Union Station area when its lit up all nice.

They have also placed a HUGE sign on the side advertising their new lofts. This is a great project for the city.

I enquired about the loft details and got this response...

I'm glad to see they'll have a 24-hour doorman. I'm not aware of any condos downtown that have this other than SF Tower. Most Plaza towers do have doormen.
