What Buildings Would You Pick For Kansas City?
Ever been jealous of buildings or structures (bridges, towers, landscapes) being created in other places?
If we could pick what buildings and skyscrapers would be built in Kansas City, which ones would you pick? Think of our city as an architecture park with the most innovative and stunning buildings in the world. The buildings picked would be built here instead of where they are being built. Our budget is endless, and only limited by our imagination.
This is the place to post those buildings and discuss them. Show us the buildings, and architects, that inspire you, or that you just admire.
Or post buildings that you would design, and where you'd put them.

Omaha's First National Tower. I love the tower, but it stands alone in Omaha, like a pencil stuck in the mud. (no offence Omaha, I guess you got to start somewhere ). This building would slip right into downtown KC and fill a void somewhere complimenting our old art deco towers in a modern way.

All it takes is a local corporation that "wants" to be downtown in a high profile building that helps define the city! &&FangKC wrote: That is a handsome building.

It would sure be nice to see Embarq make an investment like that.
Or they could build something like the BoA Tower in Charlotte...

That is a neat building. I like the crown. I like the little one to the left too.

Chrysler Building. I don't know how well it would fit in our skyline but I haven't seen a better looking building in the world.
You know, Dude, I myself dabbled in pacifism once. Not in 'Nam of course.

I would take a convention hotel that looked like the proposed Waldorf-Astoria in Chicago:
KC Region is all part of the same animal regardless of state and county lines.

The Chrysler Building has always been one of my favorites. It may not be the biggest, but it has always represented "skyscraper" to me.TheBigChuckbowski wrote: Chrysler Building. I don't know how well it would fit in our skyline but I haven't seen a better looking building in the world.

Grid beat me to it. I love that building and would "steel" it from them in a heartbeat if I were the "man-of-steal."
OK, I gotta pick another building. How about the ziggurat in Buffalo, I think it is their City Hall or something.

The Buffalo City Hall building would look great in Penn Valley Park opposite the Liberty Memorial.advocrat wrote: God,

i'm a sucker for the hancock building in chicago:
i also like the burj dubai, but it would have to be scaled down nearly quarter size to work in a kc skyline, it would look nice right in the middle of the loop with our other glass buildings.

Our Marriott is a hideous piece of crap. At least from three of the four sides.AllThingsKC wrote: It's still better then KC's version of the Marriott.
I was downtown last night and noticed its unbridled hideosity. I cannot fathom the concept of a professional architect/designer shitting forth such a god-awful piece of architectural poppycock onto the cityscape. These people deserve to be thrashed and beaten with reeds.
