Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
It would make sense to not only have things in the paper to educate folks about what is happening downtown, and tips about parking, the max, etc., but they need to do the same thing with the folks that work downtown to the Plaza. We shouldn't assume that just because they are there for work that they really are aware of all that is happening. Make up packets, and brochures, and maps, and distribute them to employers in the RCP area. There are tens of thousands of folks already in the immediate area; focus on getting them to stay for a bit after work. Or come to the district for lunch.
We've got a pretty good size "captive audience" already. Get them to stay for a couple of hours after work. Make it fun for them so that they'll go home and come back with family and friends. the downtown workforce could be the best advertisements for the P&L district.

Are you sure we're talking about the same God here, because yours sounds kind of like a dick.

Okay, I've read it enough times that I'm finally going to ask.
WHAT DOES RCP STAND FOR!?!?!?!?
I will proceed to swiftly slap my forehead when I find out it is something that I should have known all along...

Again, the city needs to advertise itself. See St Louis for ideas, like print and billboards saying "The City is back. Back the City." Do something...anything.

I would think the DNA would be the best group to start doing proactive stuff like this, no?

Speaking of the DNA, they're giving members a sneak peak at the Sprint Center on June 23 for current members! Its also a good idea to sign up for a membership if you don't already have one in case they have another sneak peak later on!

I think there would be a better use of that advertising money....but I do like those signs in St. Louis.Kard wrote: Again, the city needs to advertise itself. See St Louis for ideas, like print and billboards saying "The City is back. Back the City." Do something...anything.
I think between the DNA and downtown council, they will get good information out to people.
Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
Is anyone on the board going to this? I am not a downtown resident so if anyone is going they should take pictures. I would like to see how the progress is looking on the inside.KCMax wrote: Speaking of the DNA, they're giving members a sneak peak at the Sprint Center on June 23 for current members! Are there details about this somewhere? I looked at their website but perhaps I missed them. Is it a tour?KCMax wrote: Speaking of the DNA, they're giving members a sneak peak at the Sprint Center on June 23 for current members! I think they only sent emails to current members about it, since attendance is limited. They were possibly going to have to have a lottery even with it restricted to current members, because of attendence limitations. I signed up and will try to take some pics if I get drawn to go...doc wrote: Are there details about this somewhere? I looked at their website but perhaps I missed them. Is it a tour?
Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
I also posted this in the KC Sports forum, but thought I'd go for extra coverage.
***INTERNET RUMOR***
From the Phog.net:
"Just spoke to a friend who is a Sprint Center vendor. He had a chat with one of the SC execs today and the scuttlebutt is that decision is very tight between KC and OKC, the decision is pending any day."
