A possible 'solution' for flame wars

Post by Gladstoner »

A possible 'solution' for flame wars....

Inspired by Dante's Divine Comedy, the forum could effectively consists of three domains:

1. 'Paradiso' , which is basically the forum. There could (theoretically) be a general agreement to play nice. If some flame wars do start, and and then take on a life of their own, they would be banished to

2. 'Purgatorio'. This area would be in the 'Dumpster', but flame wars would be able to continue, rather than just pop back up again and again (and again) in the main forum. If a thread becomes too vitriolic, then it could be cast into the

3. 'Inferno'. Here, it would be locked for all eternity.

Flame wars are as much a certainty as the sun rising in the east. Human nature dictates it. The best solution is to find an outlet that is as benign and obscure as possible.

Or we could just ignore the offenders. Why allow yourself and the forum to get dragged down? Personally i don't have any time to waste with flame wars here or on any forum where I am a member.

I ignore flame wars myself, though I shamelessly hijack threads once in awhile.
