Scared just like I was, but that didn't stop him from flipping me off and yelling an obscenity at me.

How many of our forumers had to deal with the heavy ice and painful pellets hitting your face on the bike ride home today?

I was going to ride my bike to work this morning despite the weather, but my lock was frozen shut. Thus I had to scrape off the Focus and drive it to work. It didn't occur to me to simply pour hot water on the locking mechanism - that may have rectified the situation.

But everyone seems to think i'm crazy for considering bicycling in this weather. I don't get that - I'd rather have a bicycle accident than wreck my car.

We didn't have any ice today--that was yesterday.  :)  I rode to work yesterday but to get home I took a lift back in to town from a coworker and left the bike at the office.  I can ride in snow but not on ice very well.  Although I did see one die-hard commuter riding on the plaza.

Don't they make studded snow tires for bikes?

Of course they do!  http://www.icebike.org/Equipment/tires.htm

There are also bikes with skis on them.

I didn't ride today as it's hard enough to walk with the ice under the snow, but we do have 3 bikes parked outside my office.

i was just going to add to the thread that got locked, i think because cyclists are still a tiny minority of vehicles on the road, the assholes will always stand out to a disproportionate degree.
KC Region is all part of the same animal regardless of state and county lines.
Think on the Regional scale.
