Kansas City Art Institute plans downtown facility
The Kansas City Art Institute has been given the Grand Arts building at 1819 Grand Blvd. by alumna and philanthropist Margaret Silva. More solid momentum. With UMKC and KCAI expanding downtown, it will also increase bus/transit use between midtown/downtown. UMKC students get a free bus pass as part of tuition. Do KCAI students as well?

I really hope that someday KCAI forms an architecture/interior design department and has it anchoring a DT campus like with California College of the Arts.

the gallery officially opened for april first friday. great exhibits, but i wish they'd reorient the entrance to grand (vs. the side lot, which kills the walkability).

That parking lot would make a stunning garden entry.
