Sounds like Justin Meyer knows a few members of Moxy Air’s new development team. Hopefully we can get Moxy service or become a focus city.

Moxy is a start up airline by the same guy who started JetBlue, Azul and who owns TAP and a few others. I have heard that this airline will focus heavily on technology, direct flights, and mixed product. This week the startup confirmed an order for 60 A220s.
Wouldn't Wheeler airport be the airport Moxy chooses since they focus on secondary airports
Not likely due to the size of KC and KCI. Moxy’s focus on secondary airports is more applicable to the coasts and/or larger markets. However, if Moxy was to go after a secondary KC airport, I would expect it to be in Joco. There is no space or will to build a new, small terminal at MKC. Joco and Kansas on the other hand have shown a desire for their own commercial airport.

FI announced today that they will ending service to BWI- a city they added alongside KC. This could mean that KCI service is not yet set in stone. However, I have heard that sales are strong so far.
I'm pretty sure that this may not have anything to do with their KCI service.

From what I gather, they are focusing their service in the Baltimore/Washington area at IAD (Dulles Airport).

Sorry, I guess that I should have worded my message differently. I am not saying that our service could be cut. I just thought the board would be interested in the fact that a city FI added at the same time as KC is being cut while KC service was expanded. I also wanted to note that as we have seen today, service is not entirely set in stone and could change (increase hopefully).

United’s morning MCI-IAD flight is being upguaged to an A319 (mainline) from a regional jet for S19.

Was really excited about Icelandair entering the market and booked a very early flight there when they launched. I thought the biggest gain for the city would be driving down the price for other airlines to Europe. It appears now that instead of IA pushing a lower price, they have just copied pricing for existing carriers. If this continues to be the case, they won’t be in this market very long.

TLDR: Southwest(WN) service at KCI is a wash. Some routes will see an increase in flights and some will get cuts. American service from KCI to Dallas will get an extra daily flight(total of 8 ).

2018 Trans Atlan. Summary - Listed number is passengers per day each way (PPDEW)

January:242
February:173
March:304
April:294
May: 470
June: 629
July: 562
August: 464
September:459
October: 355
November:293
December: Not Available

July-September 2018 KCI TATL numbers were up 30%+ over the previous year.

Reference Planes:
British Airways 787-8 @ 212 pax; A380-8 @469pax; 777-3 @299 pax.
Delta 767-300 @211 pax.
Lufthansa A330-3 @221 pax.
Condor 767-300 @ 245-260 pax.
Icelandair 737 Max 8 @160. (What they are using for most of our 2019 flights.)

TLDR: Transatlantic Traffic to/from KCI was up big during summer 2018 while prices also dropped. We are the point where we could fill multiple widebody aircraft per day to/from Europe during the summer months. The 2018 traffic shows promising demand for another TATL airline landing at KCI

Load Factor numbers for August 2018 Intl are out

Icelandair 64%
Air Canada 85%
Delta to Cancun 71%
American to Cancun 62%
Miami Air to Punta Cana 84%

Good numbers to Toronto. Would be nice to see another flight on that.

Looks like Air Canada upguaged a number of US- Canada routes today. Are they still running the CRJ-200 to KCI?

On Icelandair.... I heard earlier this week that their KCI S’19 bookings are doing well- certainly higher than last year and in-line with their stronger performing stations.

I'm surprised Air Canada doesn't run more of the Express or Rogue flights seasonally to some of the other hubs to mid tier cities like Kansas City. Would be kind of nice to see an Air Canada Express nonstop to Vancouver or Montreal

Yes. They still run them to a dozen or so cities. Would get nice to get them on something with multi class cabin.

MEM-YYZ just started a year-ish ago and it is already being upgauged. It is interesting to see how some cities have multiple CRJ200s a day (some up to 5) and then a city with only one a day gets upgauged. Must think they have more premium passengers out of MEM or something.

Why is the flight to Toronto so late in the day though? It doesn’t arrive until 8PM which makes it irrevalant as a stopover to European destinations.

They MX base does a ton of work for AC, so it could make sense to run revenue flights with some type of maintenance stop-over, etc. I think AA used to do that when they did maintenance work here.

Jazz Air operates our AC flights. IIRC, our maintenance base only works on maineline AC widebodies(787,777,767). I’d imagine we would need to get AC maineline service before seeing any planes of that size getting subbed in.

AA used to fly 767s here for maintenance(among others). Before that, TWA would fly 747s on revenue runs here from STl for maintenance. Fun Fact: TWA 747’s carried less pax than current KCI airlines do on A321s. (Load factors used to be super low)

Alaskan is upguaging their MCI-San Diego route from an E75(76 seats) to a 737-900(168).

AC just added a fourth daily flight to STL. It would be interesting to see if that route is O/D or connecting.

I'm kind of surprised this route is getting a 737 since Southwest runs 1 or 2 nonstops daily and the prices on this route are usually dirt cheap

We have flown AC from MCI to Europe several times. Mostly to CPH. I recall this connection not being an issue, though maybe the times have shifted. As I recall you arrived CPH around 11am.

The Toronto to Copenhagen flight in summer leaves at 7:20P. The KC to Toronto flight arrives at 8:00P. :( With an 8:00 arrival, you’re going to miss most any connection east making the KC-TOR flight only a one stop service. If it was arriving at, say, 4 or 5 the traffic on that flight would likely be much stronger and would feed international travel for AC. That small change would almost be like adding another IA to our market.
