1. As announced in August 2020, UPS is tripling the size of their KCI facility. The current ramp can hold 2 widebodies and will be expanded to hold 5. New sorting equipment and building expansions will also occur.
2. KCI Logistics Center is up to Building 6 now. There is a strong belief that the new terminal will help increase freight traffic at the airport.
Why this matters: Diversification of revenues streams to KCAD, more money for passenger facing facilities.

More importantly more freight means lower landing fees which helps bring in more flights.
I don't understand why they think the new terminal will help freight. Freight shouldn't have anything to do with the passenger terminal (unless they mean in the belly of the passenger planes)

Buildings plans for Logistics Center VII (216,320 sqft) and VIII (459,680sqft) were filed today. Kadean Construction will build both for developer Trammell Crow. Other permits with the address of VII name DHL Express as the future tenant.
Earlier plans showed VIII with a ramp for cargo planes but it was dropped in later revisions. However, the DHL Express involvement does give me hope that air cargo is back in the equation for Logistics Center.
