Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
I'll be surprised if an airline-/alliance-specific lounge opens up in the new terminal - my money is on something like "The Club at MCI".
Wasn't a USO facility penciled in for the other lounge space?

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
The single dedicated lounge being constructed now will either be a third party or Delta. The location makes no sense for AA and I doubt UAL adds one. That is if it’s not left as shell space until demand picks up again.herrfrank wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 11:22 amI believe the plan was for two lounges at the new KCI -- and I would imagine that they would go to the two most recent operators: Delta and American. American will almost certainly want a lounge if BA service to Heathrow starts (which appears likely as soon as Europe re-opens from the pandemic). Delta may be less certain, but they run more seat-miles from KC than United.WoodDraw wrote: ↑Mon Apr 19, 2021 7:50 pm Has there been any news about airport lounges?
I read today that capital one is looking to build more and make them open to non-card members and focus on shorter trips.
Based on their two picks so far, we probably don’t have enough traffic, but a new exclusive build might be appetizing.
A credit card lounge would be unlikely, as the volume wouldn't justify it.
USO is destined for the head hoise.

I would love an Amex lounge, they are expanding fairly rapidly so its possible but unlikely.

No way we get Centurion. It's gonna be one of those generic and usually poor lounges.

Priority Pass (or another 3rd party) makes the most sense for us off the bat.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Tue Apr 20, 2021 12:19 pm No way we get Centurion. It's gonna be one of those generic and usually poor lounges.
- Most of our traffic flies with WN who has no dedicated lounge.
- Priority Pass is included with many travel and business cards
A Delta SkyClub would be nice, and I think it's a real possibility, but would only serve a small sliver of our passengers.

Yeah it makes sense they just suck usually. I'm tied to AA but I think Delta usually has a little more action out of MCI so that makes sense.

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
The last art RFP was released. Movable art that can be placed on walls around the terminal.
The head of STL’s airport said she understands the JetBlue adds (KC, MKE, etc) to be once daily. I will be interested to see if JetBlue leases a gate, shares a gate with AA, or pays per turn.

More drawings of the hold room
You can see the third floor lounge coming along.
Air Handlers installed
This is in the retail node. Higher ceilings there but could be better.
Connector between concourses
another angle in the connector

The garage facade mock-up.
Tug Road nearing completion
Tug Road nearing completion
The road will provide the airlines an efficient pathway to move inbound passenger baggage being delivered from arriving aircraft to the belt that takes the bags to the lower-level baggage claim.

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
Looking at these photos it appears the connector bridge will not be elevated to allow planes underneath. Which is fine, but seemed to be suggested otherwise in an earlier post. Am I seeing that correctly?

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
IIRC, the plan by Edgemoor never called for a bridge connector that allows planes to go underneath. That was one of the other options by a different team.

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
Burns & Mac proposed one as a potential add on. It was never realistic. Edgemoor/Clark is building one in Seattle for $400 million for the bridge alone

Yeah that's what I thought, but could have sworn someone said plans had changed--but now I can't find the post so maybe I dreamed it! lol.Chris Stritzel wrote: ↑Sat May 01, 2021 7:10 pmIIRC, the plan by Edgemoor never called for a bridge connector that allows planes to go underneath. I will be curious to see how the glass fins on the garage hold up to a decent hailstorm.

I don't know if it's the same thing but it looks like what's on The Nelson-Atkins. Why would that glass hold up any worse than the glass exteriors on any other building?

I bet they're part of the bomb protection system, so movable wouldn't be prudent
