They're ahead by a couple of months in some areas at least. The May 2019 presentation had the traffic change coming up in June and it's already happened.

Veryyyyyyy lucky we did not push this project back even a few more months. Punting this from the 2008 plan to 2019 cut the program a lot (65 down to 39 gates iirc). I’m certain punting this to the 2020s would have given us a very cheapo 15-25 gate facility.flyingember wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 1:17 pmThey're ahead by a couple of months in some areas at least. 2008-9 was the south terminal study. That plan was opening with 59 gates.

Buildable to 42 gates "one day" but it will not open with that many gates. 2008 I was off but it goes to show how much we would have gotten built if we started earlier.flyingember wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 4:40 pmthe current project will have 42 gates.normalthings wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 1:31 pmVeryyyyyyy lucky we did not push this project back even a few more months. once modot said no to building new highways for this project, the south terminal idea was done.normalthings wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 7:56 pmBuildable to 42 gates "one day" but it will not open with that many gates. 2008 I was off but it goes to show how much we would have gotten built if we started earlier.flyingember wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 4:40 pmthe current project will have 42 gates.normalthings wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 1:31 pm

I wonder if the pandemic is helping this project move along faster since the level of competing activity is way down? Traffic in particular.normalthings wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 1:31 pmVeryyyyyyy lucky we did not push this project back even a few more months. I would expect it's a wash because with increased labor availability there's also going to become material availability issues for some items.Highlander wrote: ↑Sat May 16, 2020 5:30 pm I wonder if the pandemic is helping this project move along faster since the level of competing activity is way down? Maybe not in basics like wire and piping, but when the project gets into aspects like the industrial control systems that will be throughout the terminal, often buried inside walls, there's not a company in every town with supply on hand to buy from. So much of this industry is designed to be custom from the factory.

Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
Is the total sq footage of the terminal still at 1,062,700?
Re: We are getting a new airport!!!
Just got to KCI and I’m really impressed with the amount of progress made on the new terminal in the last three months. In that time, the (new) terminal went from a hole I’m the ground to a very visible mixture of steel and concrete. I counted at least six cranes on site and can’t wait to see this thing accelerate in the months to come.

So all the most visible work is in two months.

Flew into KCI the other day. The steel skeleton is looking good. Celings however look to be pretty standard in height. I'm sure when the budget was cut the higher celing design was the first thing to go as it may have required a taller control tower.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 7:28 pm KCI Steel Update July 2020 - Short Version

Volume is the first thing that gets cut in VE. 3 Light has also seen a reduction in ceiling heights.mykem wrote: ↑Tue Jul 14, 2020 8:58 pmFlew into KCI the other day.
