Is likely they have emergency pull things that take out entire window. But still, not being able to open window for some air not great.

You could not escape through the operable windows, unless you're four inches wide. There are clearly marked emergency exit windows (and a hatch in the roof), in accordance with federal law, in every single RideKC bus.

Are these the first shelters installed that face away from the street? Was that done for any particular reason or just that's what worked nest in the physical space?

Looks great btw

The downtown shelters along 11th/12th and Grand will be this cantilevered style that provide more sidewalk space. The ones along Prospect Avenue will be a more traditional orientation.

@davekcmo. Can Prospect Max be upgraded to articulated bus or streetcar in the future using the same stations?

Probably not. Our CAF streetcars require a 14" curb, while Gillig buses require a 15" curb. The "dynamic envelope" of the streetcar is a lot more fixed than a bus. Federally funded bus infrastructure has to be in service for 10-12 years, depending on the component. By the time that's up, we'd already need to be doing maintenance or replacement (shelters, at minimum).

You'd probably just rebuild the stations by the time the city decided to build streetcar on Prospect.

Remember that only expansion plans of record are Main Street, Riverfront, Linwood, and Independence. Only two of those are partially funded.

That last picture made me reconsider which is the quickest gates to get to via transit. Think it will be this one until main Street extension opens
