Doesn't look good for federal funding for North Loop removal.

Doesn't surprise me that it would be axed from the bipartisan bill.

Would be more likely in the reconciliation bill.

Given this administration's and current set of politicians track record, I doubt anything meaningful happens with it, which is a damn shame.

For 6 months in, it seems they have accomplished quite a bit.

That being said, I only give reconciliation a 50/50 chance of passing in it's current form.

I wouldn’t think highway removal would be a particularly controversial item. Especially in a Democrat reconciliation bill.

Wasn’t this money supposed to be more capping the south loop rather than north loop removal?

There are a lot of residents who like highways and plentiful parking lots.

They may well be, but they represent a large and formidable block of citizenry.

I live in the Historic Northeast. I recall the uproar on neighborhood Facebook pages over "proposed" buildings being constructed on various existing parking lots around the City Market.

You would have thought they were being forced by a dictator to drink "New Coke," while classic Coca-Cola was being discontinued. lol. The younger members of this forum won't get this. haha.

Is there any movement at all on saving the old bridge?

Will the old bridge have to come down before they can construct the connection to Broadway?

Doesn't have to come down.

Unless there is some behind the scenes talk I don't think there is much movement or appetite to spend money to save the current bridge. It could just be cost prohibitive

With the windfall MoDot is getting from the transportation bill, is there any chance the city ask them to fully pay for this new bridge so we can use our contribution towards local streets?

With so much seeming to go right in this city (new KCI, riverfront Current stadium, Main streetcar, NFL Draft, WC possibility, convention hotel, etc.) this is the one project that I'm really disappointed in. I just really think we missed the mark with the lazy design and tearing down the old bring instead of reusing. We seem to be on a roll, but this was a bump in the road.
