OFFICIAL - Main Street Streetcar Extension
Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Better email the Mayor and Council ASAP that you want them to approve this ordinance and keep the Main Street extension moving:

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
The sheer number of opportunities to kill one teeny tiny little rail transit project is amazing.
Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Yeah. Probably a dozen contracts and resolutions the Council has already approved, on top of the THREE public votes for the TDD, and the nail-biting wait for the federal grant. It's amazing these things happen at all (and certainly explains our multiple failures).
Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Ordinance held one week so they Council can process the public comments received on the day of the meeting (so please don't send any more). Looks like they have the votes to pass.

Appeals process from here
https://www.courts.mo.gov/page.jsp?id=6743
It appears that after the option has been filed (Feb 4) there's 15 days to file a request for a rehearing or to transfer to the state supreme court.
If this is done and the appeals court denies it there's 15 days from the denial to put in a request directly to the state supreme court
It's currently day 10 for the first part
She filed for a re-hearing the next day on Feb 15.
The motion was due March 11th. She filed for an extension which was granted.
The extension made the response due tomorrow. But with the courts largely shut down the document might be due tomorrow, it might not be. There's no entry showing it's not due at this point.

Looking at the parcel viewer it apears that a few Waldo businesses have annexed trail space. Was this approved by KCATA or are they next to get sued?flyingember wrote: ↑Thu Apr 09, 2020 2:06 pmSo, this isn't over.flyingember wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 4:05 pmShe uses a different professional name from her actual name.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Fri Feb 14, 2020 4:00 pm Everybody and their mother knows this is about Sherry's property lol

I don't completely trust the parcel viewer.
There's a parcel of the trail at Gregory that shows it's owned by the Kansas City Public Service Company.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
parcel viewer looks pretty dead on there.
Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
On Google street view it is apparent that the portion of the building in the right of way is an addition. Google earth shows it was built on between 1991 and 1996.

Water and Sewer Line replacement along the project route is progressing. $80,000 for public engagement.

Nearly a year between end of construction and actual public operations? Seems awfully long. Wasn’t it more like 6 months for the starter line?

I suspect that a sizable buffer has been provided in case construction is prolonged.horizons82 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 15, 2020 12:44 pm Nearly a year between end of construction and actual public operations? Seems awfully long. Wasn’t it more like 6 months for the starter line?
@DaveKCMO Why wasn't the TDD turned on earlier to start generating cash for the project?

Makes sense, the streetcar doesn't operate in a vacuum.
One goal of the system is increasing interest in supporting and using transit regionally Collecting the taxes without gaining the stated benefit gives people a bad opinion of transit funding.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
This is obviously the most pressing question on April 15, 2020 but during construction and after construction is done in 2024 through testing until 2025 opening, what are the anticipated downtimes of the current stretch of the line?
