want to twitter your bus route?
want to twitter your bus route?
do you ride the bus daily? would you be interested in pooling with other riders to communicate conditions and status of that route to others? i'm trying to organize a trial of this, so PM me if you're interested in participating (or know someone that might be). you may not remain confidential to me if you participate. i'd be interested in:
- timeliness
- driver courteousness
- equipment issues (accidents, broken fare box, graffiti, etc)
- interesting stops along the route (bars, restaurants, etc)
nothing set up yet, just gauging interest...

Re: want to twitter your bus route?
interesting idea. the jo tweeted last week that they are going to begin route-specific tweeting. http://twitter.com/jocothejo
Re: want to twitter your bus route?
yeah, i cannot claim that it was an original idea. i think it would be far more interesting to have actual riders doing the updates though.enough wrote: interesting idea. the jo tweeted last week that they are going to begin route-specific tweeting. http://twitter.com/jocothejo
Re: want to twitter your bus route?
agreed. maybe the jo would get actual real-time tweets from their riders.

I will be starting up again riding the max from waldo to CC daily for work and would gladly participate. If I knew what the hell twitter was and why the lingo is so stupid. Tweeted? Seriously? It sounds like a bodily function. Nonetheless, I'm in.

a few ways to set this up... any idea for those who've been tweeting longer than i?PumpkinStalker wrote: I will be starting up again riding the max from waldo to CC daily for work and would gladly participate. 1. a shared account for each route ("KCATA51" or "MAX58")
2. one master account to reply to with updates from existing users
3. using hashtags (#) to collect posts from existing users ("#KCATA51")
any thoughts?

Glad I'm not the only one out of the loop. All I need is some other form of electronic communication to clutter my life....all this jive twitter talk makes me want to drink.GRID wrote: I thought I was the only one.

So are y'all Luddites or senior citizens?
I'd go with hash codes or dedicated accounts for each route - people could then send updates with either @ replies to the route or tagged with the route's hash code.

I'm inclined to think @kctransit with route-specific hashtags. Note the implicit hope of a regional transit system.dangerboy wrote: I'd go with hash codes or dedicated accounts for each route - people could then send updates with either @ replies to the route or tagged with the route's hash code.
Re: want to twitter your bus route?
picky detail - kctransit is the twitter name (is that the correct term?) used by the regional transit alliance. yes, that stodgy organization actually twitters. http://twitter.com/kctransit

Thanks for the correction, I always thought RTA stood for Retired Transit Alliance.enough wrote: picky detail - kctransit is the twitter name (is that the correct term?) used by the regional transit alliance. yes, that stodgy organization actually twitters. http://twitter.com/kctransit
Re: want to twitter your bus route?
too-shay.
Re: want to twitter your bus route?
meh... lack of interest with this, so let's just use the #kctransit hashtag in posts related to anything light rail, bus, KCATA, The JO, amtrak, union station, etc.
