Don't worry, Europe still has flooding.  Just do a search of European flooding.

I may be right.  I may be wrong.  But there is a lot of gray area in-between.

Corps slows releases from Kansas reservoirs in anticipation of higher Missouri water levels.
The Kansas River meets the Missouri River in Kansas City, where floodwaters from northern states are expected to push the river as high as the base of the levees and flood walls by June 17, leaving the metro area’s low-lying business districts vulnerable to flooding if rainy weather revisits the city.

Older cities, older development.  But look at the West Bottoms.  Different development, though, but still up to the levees along the MO.

Loftguy, the only reason I'm watching so closely is because my hometown is predicted to flood, and that hasn't happened since 1952. That was before they built up the levee system.  However, this will be a real test, because the Missouri up there hasn't been at flood stage for two solid months at a time--applying pressure against the levees and soaking them.

Expert says Missouri River could see flood of biblical porportions

http://stlouis.cbslocal.com/2011/06/08/ ... oportions/
Bernard Shanks, an adviser to the Resource Renewal Institute, says the Fort Peck Dam and five others along the Missouri are already full with the Army Corps of Engineers releasing record amounts of water to prepare for snow-melt and heavy rain up-river.

As a guest on KMOX’s Total Information AM Wednesday, Shanks was asked what he fears will happen should the Fort Peck Dam fail and set off a chain-reaction.

“There would be a flood like you’ve never seen,” Shanks told hosts Doug McElvein and Debbie Monterrey.  “It would be literally of biblical proportions.”

Water is going into the Ft. Peck Reservoir at twice the rate as they are letting it out. -- 101,000 cfs inflow vs. 48,500 cfs outflow.  Peak outflow is 55,000 cfs.  The water is already at the top of the spillway now.
