Re: Paris Hilton already out of jail
I take the notion that Martha Stewart is some sort of Martyr to be patently offensive. If there is anything about that whole fiasco which is worthy of getting up in arms about, it is the federal government's failure to adequately staff the SEC with enough manpower to enforce the law further.
I would never dream of defending Paris. However, I take offense at the media induced suggestion that the shenanigans surrounding her incarceration are necessarily unique or driven by special privilege. Once again - if the notion of her punishment being a joke offends you, point your anger at a society that has long tolerated slackass punishment of this sort of crime.nota wrote: Defend Paris if you will,

The only Paris Hilton I'd have any interest in is the Arc de Triomphe hotel.

Is the officer riding shotgun calling her friends and family on the cellphone to brag about hauling Paris' ass to jail?Moniker wrote:

While Paris certainly could have avoided that photo by just serving her time and staying in jail, the photo is crap. She doesn't deserve that. And the police could have avoided that happening. I'm assuming she is handcuffed in the patrol car. I guess that is regulation but it certainly precludes pulling her jacket over her head like some are allowed to do.
It just gets more bizarre by the moment.

Its nowhere near the most embarrasing photo of Paris in an automobile . . . .
Re: Paris Hilton already out of jail
Here's what I've found about the charges.
Sounds like she was warned plenty of times and that she thought that rules and warnings etc were not made for her. Sometimes they just have to be knocked upside the head to get through. She'll come out the stronger for it.Hilton's twisted jailhouse saga began Sept. 7, when she failed a sobriety test after police saw her weaving down a street in her Mercedes-Benz on what she said was a late-night hamburger run.
She pleaded no contest to reckless driving and was sentenced to 36 months' probation, alcohol education and $1,500 in fines. In the months that followed she was stopped twice while driving on a suspended license. The second stop landed her in Sauer's courtroom.
Since the original incident last fall, Hilton has been pulled over three more times, and each time warned or cited by the officer for driving with a suspended license.

Yeah, her life's pretty hard. It's frickin' 45 days in jail. Man-up (so to speak) and serve it. What the hell's the deal? Most people would and should be devastated by that amount of jail time - I would lose my job, my apartment, maybe more. She loses 45 days of partying? BFD.She doesn't deserve that.
If it doesn't have street-level retail, it's an abortion.

But no one deserves public humiliation. (not even if they brought it on themselves) I suppose she is grateful for the exposure though.

Re: Paris Hilton already out of jail
Not only was she pulled over 3 times, but she was required to enter an alcohol program within 21 days of her arrest, which she didn't do. And she hadn't paid the fine. As for public humiliation, being photographed in the back of a police car is part of the process of being arrested. Special treatment would be if the cops came in a SUV with dark timted windows so that no one could see her. As for being grateful for the publicity, you know she is going to milk this for all shes' worth. She wasn't terribly embarrassed about being filmed performing oral sex, I'd think that would be a bit more humiliating than a shot from the back of a car.
The fact that Paris and her family assume that their wealth permits them to be above the law is shameful. The fact that she has been, in fact, above the law until now is disgusting. Anyone who still does not believe that there are two systems of justice in this country has their head in the sand. Any other white, female porn star would never have been let out of jail.

Are you sure we're talking about the same God here, because yours sounds kind of like a dick.

jumping on cnn.com and seeing their red "breaking new" banner for special news and reading something about Paris made me cry.
