C'mon Starbucks, the world needs more instances of this Lewis Black bit.

(Assuming Scooter's wants to try downtown again, they'd be the obvious choice to take over that space.)
Word is that Scooter's no longer intends to operate any stores without drive thrus.

I am also told that the Kaldi on State Line is closing--so this sounds like it might be a Kaldi thing as noted above.
The State Line location has been closed for some time now (a month or so?).

Cordish claims Kaldi has outgrown the space and is looking elsewhere downtown for space for full kitchen. But not the case for the Plaza spots? Perhaps with that space being at corner of busy streetcar stop they've raised the rent beyond what Kaldi would accept.

I honestly think it's been close to 6 months at this point.

Picklemans will finally open but no one will believe it's true so they'll just close again with no one having ever been there and we'll just leave up the signage for decades because it has to open up at some point right?
Peeked into Picklemans spot. Doesn't look close to opening but the tile floor is in.

Bar Louie has finally died. Shocking it took this long with such horrible service.

I always thought they would be a good tenant but I only ever went there when I knew every place was busy and I needed an open table for a group, so guess that's not a good sign for success.

The service was so bad. Which is unfortunate because they served food until close so it was a good post-show/post-late evening place for a snack at 2a.m.

Never went to that one. Have been to several others with no complaint. Sounds like bad management locally.

I have had great experiences at the Zona Rosa one.

Closure is part of a restaurant wide set of closures due to bankruptcy

I went for lunch a couple of months ago. There were maybe four tables and the service cause our meal to run almost 2 hours. The food came pretty quickly, so I don't believe it was a kitchen issue.

Poor management. They've gone through dozens of general managers.

The company closed 40% of their restaurants. Their response was bad corporate speak.
“Bar Louie is a profitable business focused on long-term growth with new investors. The sale through Chapter 11 will help us to focus on our profitable core locations and expand in areas that have a proven track record of success,” said Tom Fricke, CEO of Bar Louie, in the statement. “Most importantly, it ensures that we can continue to provide superior service to our guests, implement an exciting range of new customer-facing initiatives, expand our marketing influence, and continue to offer the 5-star experience we are known for.”
If you didn't know they ran restaurants, nothing about that quote tells you they sell food and drink. The CEO of a restaurant chain should be promoting the food.

My edit showing how focusing on food can be done so easily, not "initiatives"
