Could P&L use a Dave Busters or Punch Bowl sort of establishment? I don't really go to those places so I'm not sure what they are like. Seems like they are popular but not quite as much as Top Golf.

There’s a Punch Bowl Social going in on the plaza. Would be a direct competitor to No Other Pub as well.

I don’t feel D&B is a good fit downtown. Feels a bit to big box family suburban type vibe.

Punch Bowl Social filed for Chapter 11 and closed all but 2 of their locations. Not sure they are going in on the plaza anymore.

Yesterday evening I spotted some work on the south end of the lower roof (behind the streetcar platform). It looks like it could be scaffolding getting put up. Part of the sidewalk was roped off.

I’m very confident it will be taken over by another operator.

Well considering that Alamo and Cordish were negotiating as late as last Friday, there was still hope they’d reach an agreement. Unfortunately, Alamo has more going on right now than just Covid.

Confident enough to make a wager?

Unfortunately we aren't able to patronize an AMC location since they decamped to Leawood.

Pure speculation, but I could see the theater being split away from the restaurant/bar section. I just don’t see many theater companies making that concept work as well as a restaurant separately and I don’t think it really brought many more people going to a movie. Allowing a theater to take a smaller space at a cheaper cost probably makes them more viable.

The real money in that space is private events. I think it would be too difficult to section it off from the theatre. Could be very Drum Room like if done right.

Like wedding reception private events?

Partitioning would be easy. New theater entrance behind the streetcar stop with a wall separating it from the current entrance. Allows limited streetfront to be taken for concessions and tickets, allows cheaper rent to a new theater and opens the main floor of the building for other use...private events.

Alamo files Chapt 11 so this isn't specific to this site.

Well, it isn't specific, but they are not closing all locations just the underperformers.
