Re: OFFICIAL: NABC Hall of Fame building design
According to the article in the Topeka Capital Journal the basketball court will give the visiters a chance to see how it feels to shoot a basket in the same conditions as the real players in a real game. The fans waving in the background durring a free throw. dunking a basketball using an adjustable basket, dribbling through a full court press, and so on. the exhibit will give the visiter the whole game experiance.

Re: OFFICIAL: NABC Hall of Fame building design
OK folks...here are the facts.
Official Name of Facility: THE COLLEGE BASKETBALL EXPERIENCE (CBE)
HOF: The National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame is an important "component" of the larger College Basketball Experience comprising less than 1/3 of the total space. Halls of Fame denote "museums". This is no museum. The facility celebrates the men's collegiate game at the highest levels of competition and is designed to teach and immerse the visitor "in the game". The CBE was founded by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and is an operating concern of the NABC Foundation.
The coaches you saw in the featured articles and broadcasts are members of the NABC's board of directors.
The women have their own association (WBCA) headquartered in Atlanta and hall of fame in Knoxville, TN (probably because Pat Summit (Univ. of TN) is the most successful women's coach of all-time.
Basketballs: Regulation men's basketballs are used in the facility.
Center Court and other courts: The presentation court in the facility is used for special events because it can be covered and tables and chairs can be placed on the covering material. During normal hours, the court is open for all visitors to play games, shoot, etc. However, there are several interactives in the facility that break-out the nuances of the game, such as, free throws, dunking, 3-on-3 court, 3-point shot, buzzer beaters, pop-a-shot (not a nuance of the game but fun). This is just the tip of the iceberg...there is so much more in this facility and not enough time to write about it at this moment.

Thats why it is called the CBE Classic nad not the NABC Classic. The CBE is what will draw the fans in.

They have some lighting up that was on last night that appears to be under the steel framework. Does this mean whatever covering is going up is going to be translucent?

It sure doesn't look like it will be translucent. When I walked by the building I touched it and looked at if for a few minutes, I see no possible way for lights to come through that material.moderne wrote: They have some lighting up that was on last night that appears to be under the steel framework. Craka, I was talking about the west facade. How could you look and touch something that is not even installed yet?

I am guessing backlit instead of translucent. The rendering made it look like that framework will be covered with something that looks like narrow wood planking to me.moderne wrote: Craka, I was talking about the west facade. How could you look and touch something that is not even installed yet?

you didn't say which side, and the whole building has steel framework so it was a confusing statement.moderne wrote: Craka, I was talking about the west facade. How could you look and touch something that is not even installed yet?
Re: OFFICIAL: The College Basketball Experience (NABC Hall of Fame) building design
Is this the official Basketball Hall of Fame? Because I read today something about Roy Williams being inducted into the college HOF and it was in Springfield, Mass. I know they have a college basketball HOF, but is ours gonna take over theirs or what?
Re: OFFICIAL: The College Basketball Experience (NABC Hall of Fame) building design
The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame is in Springfield, MA and inducts all basketball greats domestically and internationally (from college and the pros). However, they don't induct deserving college coaches and college players are almost never inducted. It has become a pro hall of fame (NBA, FIBA, etc.).
The National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame (Sprint Center-KC) is necessary because it will induct deserving coaches and players who will never get a shot at the Naismith in Springfield such as Ralph Sampson (3-time college player of the year).
The NCBHF will compliment the Naismith by acknowledging the great careers of college coaches, players, teams and contributors.
By the way, a little know fact is: The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, MA was also founded by the NABC (the founders of the the CBE and National Collegiate Basketball Hall of Fame).

New pics.
From 13th and Oak.
From 13th and Grand.
From Town pavillian Garage.
I tried to get the windows on the north side of this building but the reflections of the sky overpowered the images.

I think that design is just sweet. What's with the roof tho? It looks angled, like you could park up there. ( Know you can't, just saying....)
