I love you KC rag.
But just wait until the Big 12 tournament, then downtown will be bigly :). Can't wait to see all the purple this year. :)
Odd transition.
Is it me or have you just become moody lately? Seem bitter dude. Hope all is well with you. Yes, this Winter has sucked the life out of me as well..lol

Why does the city keep granting permits for this? Not only is it blocking the sidewalk, but it's also a hazard for those using the crosswalk since it blocks sightlines. (The Grand side is even worse...)

I like how it's obstructing the view for drivers of pedestrians entering the mid-block crossing. Nice touch of death!

But there's a sign telling drivers to look for a pedestrian in front of the car. Why else would the sign be there?

Does the city really give permits for this?

311 got a little snarky with me and apparently so.

When I reported another car a few weeks ago they said there were no permits granted for this?

They do this every Thursday as Ford is a sponsor. The vehicles don't block pedestrian access and are on Cordish owned property. There have been some 311 complaints but those always come from road closures, as to be expected. From what I've read on here, many members are not fans of road closures.

I used to get frustrated by this, but given how many fish we have to fry in this town (and the fact that typically, as noted, the vehicle is placed in a way that doesn't block pedestrian flow) I don't have much of an issue with it. I'm more upset by KCPD parking on the opposite sidewalk next to HR Block and actually blocking pedestrian flow.

I'd rather pd do this who have to leave in a hurry sometimes versus a car ad.

I'll keep putting in 311 tickets anytime the city decides to let advertising take over public sidewalks

It's not access, it's sight lines. It's supposed to be a pedestrian crossing, but instead of looking for pedestrians, cars are distracted by a car on the sidewalk. And cars don't belong on a sidewalk downtown.

Surely everyone can put their brains together and come up with a better sponsorship solution.

1. What is Ford sponsoring? 2. How does parking a car on the sidewalk promote that sponsorship? Seems to me it's just some combination of hubris and laziness.
