Joe's KC would be making a business blunder then in my opinion, but I don't own a restaurant, so... They have had years to put something downtown, and Q39 could continue to take a lot of thunder away from Joe's as the new default recommendation for out-of-towners. Even with the proximity to 39th Street, I think it makes sense for Q39s long-term if they keep up the same quality food.

probably not — the most credible-sounding source to date is the guy who tried to book an event at GB only to be told they would be closed and he wouldn't miss them because joe's KC is moving in next. but when nobody else gave further substantiation, the board in its continuous search for truth and bbq across the street started tossing out guesses as who else it might be if it wasn't joe and landed on Q39 as a possibility and i guess now we're running with that?

While I like Q39 much more than Joe's KC (only kansans would put cheese on BBQ).
It would be a plus for downtown to have such a famously hyped (but barely above average) BBQ joint.
But Food TV and other media will still focus on the hick gas station location for the kitsch.
