Great... what the heck is going on with Cordish & co? Any latest news on when, what and if the tenants will be announced?trailerkid wrote:They are in negotiations with Nike...I'm not sure if its NikeTown or Nike Factory Outlet, but it's not inked.Caycee wrote:Nike Town was announced as a Legends tenant? Shit! When was this?Critical_Mass wrote:NIKE town, probably not happening since they were announced as tenants to the Legends retail center out at the race track.
I could see a Hard Rock or HOB coming in (both owned by the same company), especially since they are coming to the area w/ their newest franchise, Bozo's BBQ, also at Legends. I'm glad they aren't opening a Hard Rock or HOB out there, I don't think KC is a big enough town for two Hard Rocks or whatever.
I heard we are getting two Bass Pro Shops in the metro area, but not downtown. One out at the Bannister location, and one out in Olathe.

We may have to wait a while because Blake Cordish said the names of the tenants would be announced around the time that the complex gets ready to open. I'm sure with something this large in such a high profile spot that many of the names will get leaked or that the tenants will identify themselves before that.
There's a story here that talks about the tenants:

I wonder if that's the same Lucky Strike Lanes bowling alley that used to operate in south KC a few years ago. As I recall, it closed down. I wonder if it's the same owners(?)
I've bowled there a few times, but honestly, that location was awfully ghetto. I used to be big into bowling, with an average above 200 before I quit.
Any info on this bowling alley? I think it's great they're putting one in the P&L.

I want something good in the P&L not some fad restaurants and entertainment.

I think it is a little early to be getting worried. It'll need an exclusive tenant or two but I'm sure that it will get one. There isn't any reason for them to announce something big almost two years before the projected opening.

I was worried about The Legends competing w/ P&L District for tenants, but I would think it is a no-brainer.
The Legends has the race track which gets around 7 races a year, plus they've got the T-Bones minor league ball team, and some already established retail draws (Nebraska Furniture Mart, Cabella's, etc.).
But, I don't think that can compete w/ convention crowds, potential sporting spectator crowds on a near daily basis (assuming NBA or NHL), plus all of the entertainment events (concerts at Sprint Center, plus PAC crowd), thousands of residents within walking distance, and a centralized location (a DT location would draw East Metro residents more so than the extreme western WyDot Co. location of Legends, IMO).
I might have been mistaken about the Nike tenant. Maybe it was an Adidas outlet. The "formal" groundbreaking for The Legends occured last week, and many tenants were announced. The only big names I can think of right now were H+M, Off-Broadway, & Bozo's BBQ (from the Hardrock/HOB people). I don't even know what those first two are, but people seemed impressed by them (not much of a shopper here...). I heard this announced on KCUR 89.3 (umkc NPR station) before I even got home from the event. I am sure there was something about it written up in The Star the next day that has the definitive list of what tenants were announced.
I was happy there weren't more big & recognizable names on the list, that I would hope P&L district could land.

That's typical business speak. Again, nothing big is going to be announced for awhile.

I believe an ESPN Zone is opening in the Staples II development...they use that line until they're ready to announce something.

Yep, typical business-speak. If they're in talks with Cordish, they're going to be tight-lipped about any plans, because that's the way Cordish wants it.Currently there are no plans to build any new Zones in the U.S. or
abroad.
Besides, KC would be a perfect place in the Midwest for a new Zone. It's right smack in between Denver and Chicago, and close to neither.
Tell you all what, as soon as Cordish moves into the Town Pavilion next month, I'll keep my ears open. I'm bound to overhear some conversation about potential tenants

Same Response, they must have some kind of form letter . Wonder how many we can get them to send out?

Hello,
I recently visited your location in Las Vegas and I am constantly
impressed with your operation. I have also visited your locations in
Baltimore and Washington D.C. As you are aware Kansas City is
developing a downtown entertainment district with Baltimore based
Cordish developing company, and I believe that an ESPN Zone would be
the
perfect sports bar for the district. The KC area is a great sports
town
and would greatly support your operation. Thanks for the fun I have
enjoyed at your locations, as well as hopefully considering the Kansas
City market.

Got a good response from Hard Rock, don't think this is 'stop the presses' kind of news, but cool none the less:
Thank you for your e-mail! Believe it or not, we actually are considering that market. We would certainly appreciate your support.

Hello,
I live downtown Kansas City, and Hard Rock would be a great addition to our new downtown entertainment district being developed by The Cordish Co. Please consider this market, as myself and millions of other Mid Westerners would gladly support the location.

wow, amazing to actually see a response that tips their hand. These emails do work to some extent...let's the company know their business is desired in this market.

I drive by the Hollywood Lucky Strike daily on my way home from work. This bowling alley actually has a red velvet rope, bouncers, and a line a half block long to get in. Way too trendy.

Done. I love the idea of a HRC in the P&L District. By the way, what email address did you send your message to? I sent mine to cafeinfo@hardrock.com. Just curious, because if I chose the wrong email, I may not get as good of a response. These emails do work to some extent...let's the company know their business is desired in this market.
