Believe it when i see it, but still hopeful.
It hasn't been officially announced yet beyond some concept images. So neither?"normalthings wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 12:24 am Is 4 Light postponed indefinitely or is it still happening?
Didn't a concept image some time ago slip out with a "W" hotel sign on it? I would guess a large hotel confirmation would speed up the process for Four Light, but unlikely until something like that happens.flyingember wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 8:47 amIt hasn't been officially announced yet beyond some concept images. I think that KCLover meant a large hotel brand confirmation for 4 Light.flyingember wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 1:16 pm We had a large hotel confirmation, it's under construction right now and it didn't speed up the process.
Yes, a few renderings were produced with the W Hotel logo. These logos were edited out of subsequent releases.KCLover wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 8:55 amDidn't a concept image some time ago slip out with a "W" hotel sign on it? There's been no such confirmation. I've seen renderings include brands that never located to the development.normalthings wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 1:37 pmI think that KCLover meant a large hotel brand confirmation for 4 Light.flyingember wrote: ↑Wed Mar 13, 2019 1:16 pm We had a large hotel confirmation, it's under construction right now and it didn't speed up the process.
He is saying that if there was a confirmation, the project would speed up. Aka If a large tenant was interested in the project the project would be a go.flyingember wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 8:19 amThere's been no such confirmation. When a tenant is interested is when they start negotiations. It could take months or years to get from interest to being ready to finalize the design. There's no assurance having a tenant means a project is a go. Look at how many project downtown get announced and never happen.normalthings wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 9:46 am Aka If a large tenant was interested in the project the project would be a go.
When the council blocks a development and submarines on a longstanding, legally binding contract that they have with a developer... Then the developer loses all interest in pursing development in that area. Developers aren't here to play politics. They're here to build and make money. Renegade on a contract you already have with one and this is what happens. Blame the council as it should be blamed. All "Light" projects are now in jeopardy of being canceled.flyingember wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 9:55 amWhen a tenant is interested is when they start negotiations. Off topic but the council and their community benefit requirements as part of the kci project has not gotten enough criticism.normalthings wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 9:49 pmCanady supposedly voted no on the airport after the FAA blocked her pet projects.
Agreed. It smacks of 3rd world politics and compromises the optimization of the new terminal by diverting funds elsewhere (the developer is not doing the pet projects for free).KCPowercat wrote: ↑Fri Mar 15, 2019 12:44 amOff topic but the council and their community benefit requirements as part of the kci project has not gotten enough criticism.normalthings wrote: ↑Thu Mar 14, 2019 9:49 pmCanady supposedly voted no on the airport after the FAA blocked her pet projects.
