Exit locations or exit doors? Big difference. Kemper was originally built with 4 exit locations with about 16 doors each and a 5 location with two doors.anniewarbucks wrote: I do not think that the number of exits or lack of will keep the fans from exiting at their own speed. Here in Topeka at the Kansas Expocenter we only have 5 total exits out of Landon Arena.

I may be right. I may be wrong. But there is a lot of gray area in-between.
Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
Ah yes... yellow... even the Sprint logo has changed since those first conceptual renderings.anniewarbucks wrote: From the webcam, they are starting to paint the sprint logo on the top of the arena. There is a wide yellow stripe down the center of the roof.

Will those buildings be sticking around or be sacrificed in the holy name of development?tat2kc wrote: i absolutely love the contrast between the older brick buildings and the sleek style of the all glass arena. its such a departure from a traditional building design.
Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
They aren't painting the roof, they are putting up yellow panels (looks like the same Tyvex stuff they put up on the sides of the P&L) I took a few pics from my building but I can't figure out how to post an image from my hard drive.

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
are your pictures closer up than the webcam?
Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
They are better resolution and more tightly zoomed. Taken from WST 13th floor. I could walk over to the garage roof top and get some better ones if interested. Still can't post 'em though.

Try using photobucket then it will give you a link to your picture.

You are geniuses! Thanks. I zoomed in on the lower image and I withdraw my previous statement of Tyvex, it looks like a rolled out decal of some sort. My bad.

It looks like that would be the yellow background for the black lettering of the Sprint logo.MightyKC wrote: You are geniuses! Thanks. I zoomed in on the lower image and I withdraw my previous statement of Tyvex, it looks like a rolled out decal of some sort. My bad.

It's going to be one giant logo, right? Like this:
And, not 2 smaller logos like the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, is that correct?

From this:
To this:
Or this:
Or this:
If they're covering the top, as in the photos, all in yellow... it looks to be the fourth. I think I would prefer the second... maybe with a light grey background so the yellow would stand out. I think a huge yellow roof will look a bit too bold in aerials...

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
The yellow on the roof looks to be in a solid line. So, either the whole roof will be yellow (which I think would be too costly) or it's one of the lines in the logo.

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
It doesn't look like what they're putting down now would match up with anything but a yellow background. Maybe they will only cover a portion of the roof in the yellow as opposed to the entire thing.
Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
Yeah, it looks to be coming over the top center... which isn't, I don't believe, where the lines would be.Brodees wrote: It doesn't look like what they're putting down now would match up with anything but a yellow background. The new Sprint logo still reminds me of Amtrak's.

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
Is it possible that whatever they are currently putting on the SC is some sort of liner or primer/undercoat in preparation for the actual paint job?
Even if the roof will eventually be yellow, it would have to be a different color than the pale, insulation, color stuff currently being applied.

Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
By looking at the webcam today, my guess is that it will be VERY close to the fourth one.... grey top.. with a yellow rectangle right in the middle with black Sprint logo on the yellow....Theiler wrote:

On to the Next One
Re: OFFICIAL - Arena construction
That'd be okay, so long as the entire roof isn't solid yellow... IMO.KC Kropf wrote: By looking at the webcam today, my guess is that it will be VERY close to the fourth one.... grey top.. with a yellow rectangle right in the middle with black Sprint logo on the yellow....

May be it is a giant roll of masking tape, and then they will spray paint on the sprint logo and remove the tape.
