My comments about the big 12 being happy way predate bob. I was in the meetings. I know officials were not happy and said changes will happen. They did happen. It is better. It's still not great.

It's okay, not everything has to be perfect between 12th and truman, oak to main. As a vested consultant use the feedback from people who live here and use the facilities to find ways to make things better instead of telling us what we see with our own eyes isn't happening. Gaslighting doesn't work here.

I’m not telling you what your describing doesn’t happen. I am telling you I have seen the data and I’ll take that information as a little more reliable than your account. Only because I see you on here and with all due respect, you seem to complain often. I could be wrong.

As for leaving PNL 15 minutes before tip off and getting in your seat. You absolutely can do that as I do it 3 times every year along with the entire on-air staff from 810 radio. They’re on stage in PNL doing their thing and head in last minute. I’m always hanging out with them and go with. Never a issue and we don’t have special credentials but we do enter via the founders club.

We do take guests information seriously. This is why we have hundreds of thousands of bits of information from guest feedback. Which is part of what I’m referencing when I say your situation isn’t the norm. It’s always being improved as well in the event world. It’s obviously on the best entrance of event venues to get the guests in as quickly as possible. This is why millions are spent on consultants and compiling data.

If me posting that things could improve is complaining then I guess I can see your point especially regarding p&l and tmobile. It's a big investment in my neighborhood and I want it to be as successful as possible.

My scope on this site goes beyond just these 8 blocks though.

It won't help because they look at the cost of making changes relative to the lost revenue in terms of the average experience

They need to have issues with thousands of people and the money involved before it comes close to being something they'll account for with improvements

Was a below-ground connector between the P&L garage and the Sprint block ever considered?

Isn't that true for any business? There's rarely an event I'm a part of that doesn't have complaints. When you have 75,000 ticket buyers and let's say 125 complaints about the same topic, you take it seriously and make improvements where you can, but no, you don't dump thousands into the issue unless the complaint scales up.

For example, the amount of time I've spent on my own and in meetings going over the tiniest details of a festival entrance process is insane. What if we do this or move that... What if we offer a financial advantage to check in prior to arriving... What if this and that to the point it boils down to the simple fact that you're dealing with moving a large amount of bodies through a few small (even the largest entrances are small) entry points. Our #1 thing we won't compromise is security and unfortunately, that's the part of the process that typically takes the longest.

At some of the major festivals I've worked over the last 5 years, technology is finally making things faster by offering cashless options. As well as RFID tech that allows guests with different access levels to move about without constantly needing to show a ticket. It also allows us to deactivate access if we have any issues with attendees and track guests movements. Guest tracking is an amazing tool to help us rethink our layouts, points of purchase, popular attractions etc.

Sadly, metal detectors are not going anywhere or getting any faster for the time being.

I also like the (heart)KC photo op they've done at the Grand Entrance. If anything, I'm happy they went ahead and spent some money on upgrades instead of the bare bones Sprint replacements.

I can't decide if I like it or hate it. I liked the clean lines and appearance of the "sprint" center. This kind of makes it gaudy, like the cowboy sign in the P&L district, but it also sort of adds something to the arena at the same time.

Maybe not to you, but for the arena, yes, game changers.

My point is they could have simply swapped out the old signage but they've showed they're willing to invest, which hopefully means a stronger presence in KC than I expected. Maybe they'll invest in more digital event entrance tech (powered by T-Mobile) so you don't have to wait days in line to get into the Big 12 Tourney.

We just don't have the same definition of gamechangers. An instagram acrylic thingie and a new roof sign are great and all but pretty basic.

Yeah, I guess we do. A game changer to me doesn't have to directly impact myself for me to consider it a good thing.

Those two upgrades alone are more than a quarter million dollars worth of investment from T-Mobile that they didn't need to do. Yes, they mostly benefit them and that's fine. I guess you probably don't understand how art installations like the IG sign are so impactful for cities. Considering these photo ops provide cities with millions and millions of dollars worth of advertising on social media at zero cost, it's a big deal. Similar to how the "Chiefs Kingdom" sign placed at Union Station last year was huge for Union Station.
