My parents convinced us to do the pics for the flying people way back in like 2006 or whenever & I would personally love to tear those out myself.

That was the worst art project downtown in awhile and it only aged worse with time.

Just don't do technology unless you're willing to upgrade it.

It's a hard site. No one wants to do fountains because no one wants to pay, but that's obviously the best option.

No one wants benches and open squares because they're scared it would attract, well, people.

Exterior signage changes taking place this week. Also noticed the sprint store has temp signage up.

Populous has filed for structural modification permits for TMobile Center.

"Construct structural support for new roof sign per plans reviewed for code compliance."

I’m working with them on some LED screen upgrades as well.

The swoosh over "Center" is the outline of the building itself, which is cool

NCAA just announced that KC will host NCAA March Madness regionals for men's basketball in 2023. KC was also awarded the volleyball and wrestling championships

They’re currently adding what appears to be a permanent art installation or “Instagram wall” as they’re often referred to these days. It’s substantial and looks great. A giant heart and KC.

T-mobile is dumping some money into the arena, which is a nice thing to see! Yesterday, a large crane hoisted a metal frame to the top of the southern side of the roof which will hold another T-Mobile Arena sign. Will make for some awesome aerial shots on broadcast tv. Far better than the tacky painted sprint logo on the roof.

Approaching 15 years old? I would imagine we aren’t far from a refresh or renovation.

Things like paint and light fixtures, sure. A renovation seems unlikely.

Kauffman's first major renovation was at 34 years.

In 2015 the arena bonds had a 2039 payoff date. That would be at 32 years.
I wouldn't expect the city wants to get into the discussion of issuing new bonds before the current ones are paid off.

Agree. Basic upkeep but the facility overall is in excellent shape, not outdated and they've done little projects here and there to avoid one big renovation. Upgraded sound, lighting and video systems very recently as well.

Upgrades would only happen with an anchor tenant.

And even those would be minimal and cosmetic. Branding basically.

They would add team stores in each level and add more suites. The large event space in the end would be converted and you might see the open concourse on the side converted. It wouldn’t be anything that involved tearing out concrete, but would change the interior look pretty significantly.

I forgot about the event space on the end.

The entire entry process and number of entry points is the biggest need of that building. Scoreboard was upgraded a couple years ago.
