Side note,  the gf pointed out that the fixtures resemble popcorn.  Thought that was an interesting observation.

The mezzanine does indeed wrap around all the way to the dome area, so there is an overlook. I'm guessing Toss used the spidey stuff anyway.

On the fixture/sculpture, apparently the popcorn resemblance was the intent.

We were on an invited tour so and I can't recall if the elevated view of the dome is open all the time or not. Also, on the tour the guy was explaining about that sculpture - if I recall correctly it is meant to resemble something else, of which I can't remember right now, but by coincidence, it reminds many people of popcorn.

Yes but popcorn is typically more ubiquitous than those elusive Calabi-Yau manifolds, which I suspect manifest themselves less often in these parts.

If string theory is correct, the six extra spacetime dimensions (apart from the familiar four) would take the form of a Calabi-Yau manifold, so they would be at least as ubiquitous as popcorn (or something).
