My idea: Rail down Linwood/31st to TSC. Transit Center and park n' ride in the underutilized TSC parking lots. Longterm look at TOD

The rail would also serve the VAMC. But also put a lid on Arrowhead so it could host events year round.

My only concern with this plan is the future of the stadium complex.

Chiefs to KS and Royal's to downtown could open this site up toa huge park & ride and transit-served logistics center. Imagine driving in from Blue Springs or Lees Summit, parking at TSC, and taking the train to a Royals game downtown.

I still don't believe the city would ever allow the Chiefs to leave the city. While they probably & hopefully won't give them any more money for stadium improvements/new build, they'll find other ways to make it happen. I think the backlash on public funded stadiums has finally started to usher out that period. I think we're closer to SKC moving back to MO than Chiefs moving to KS.

When does the Sporting Park lease expire?

If they're accurate they're going to be there until 2031 or 2036

The Chiefs lease is through 2031

The Chiefs will never go to the Kansas side and arrowhead will likely be in service for several more decades. While the idea of a roof has always been floated, I don’t think it will ever happen and Chiefs fans would throw a fit. I know I’d be against it as the outdoor element is such a big factor and a point of pride for Chiefs fans.

So work on a new Sporting Stadium could start this decade. Great!

This is all that I could find about Rob Heineman and Sporting KC downtown. I think that Sporting downtown offices and pub are indicative of their willingness to play there.

@blakemharris: Would you ever consider playing a friendly in Kaufmann Stadium? Bring together Royals popularity atm. and play in MLB stadium?

@RobbHeineman: Yes....when they play downtown

Surely the banks and developers will be all over this auction for PRIME real estate directly across the highway from TSC. /s https://www.loopnet.com/Listing/8809-Le ... /31387834/

Interesting listing. Wonder what was there before or if it was just old homestead land? Ironic the listing is under Bill Maas in the shadow of his old employer.

That parcel was undeveloped even before they even built Truman Sports Complex.
