Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Match-Ups with the Cards and Cubs will fill the Stadium up more than Twins and White Sox.
Twins are probably the best traveling road team for fans in our division.

True, but shouldn't we be more concerned with filling the stadium with Royals fans?

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The main thing is selling out the stadium, period. If they can get more revenue by selling out the stadium to Cardinals & Yankess fans, then it will hopefully make the Royals better. Thus, more Royals fans will want to go to the ballpark making it harder for fans of other teams to be there.KCMax wrote: True, but shouldn't we be more concerned with filling the stadium with Royals fans?
To an extent, I don't care if 100% of the stadium is in the other team's colors, just sell out the stadium night after night! Then with the extra cash flow, make the Royals better, and the blue will return. If you build it, they will come. :D

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't really buy into much of a rivalry with the Cards -- certainly it comes up a little more often here on this forum, but personally I don't detect any general animosity toward the Cardinals in KC, nor toward the Royals when I'm in St. Louis, nor any sort of ill will from either side when I'm in Columbia. The Royals don't have any good rivals these days because they have sucked for years. Look at the Chiefs: they're party to a couple of the NFL's great rivalries, with the Broncos and the Raiders (who also have a rivalry of their own with each other). None of these teams are close to each other, but the rivalries took root because each team has been good at the same time for some extended period of their histories. If the Royals become a good team, playing games that actually matter, they'll naturally develop rivalries with whichever other AL Central teams are strong at the same time (which could potentially be all of them). And if the Royals continue to suck, I don't think there'll be much of a rivalry with the Cards even if they did change leagues. It's hard for a punching bag to develop a real rivalry with those doing the punching (although somehow the Red Sox managed to pull it off), because fans of the crappy team just stop caring and fans of the good team just take their inevitable victories for granted.rxlexi wrote: While I believe KC is firmly an AL town, I think a move to the NL (Central) is at least worth considering, simply due to the fact that we would play the Cardinals regularly. They have become our only true rival now, based purely on geography, and the intensity of the matchup would fill the stadium pretty consistently. If for no other reason, it is one worth considering.

hmm, its been a while since we have had a Royal involved in any real scandal - at least since Pena Sr. got caught with his pants down. I will be curious to see what sort of Arkansas family values get dispensed.

I feel sorry for the St. Louis. It must not be easy to lose the season series to their cross-state rival, which is the same team that "stole" the 1985 World Series from them.
These crappy Turd Birds have the BEST INTERLEAGUE RECORD!!!!

Also...
I know there was still way more red then there should have been tonight.
But, I think there was a lot less red tonight than in past games at Kauffman.
Anyone else get the same feel? Or is it just me?
Maybe sweeping the Cards in St. Louis has something to do with it?!

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
yea that's what they are saying on the radio too.. that there was far less red there than in years past...
I understand if you live in eastern MO, but if you're in the western part of MO, or live in the KC area you have to root for the Royals... I mean i know we've been losers for awhile, but c'mon. Root for your hometown team!!!!
They are expecting a large crowd again tomorrow, let's sell the place out with BLUE!! Stupid Cardinals fans.. i want to see all of them cry in their beer.
Don't look now but we're only 6 games below .500 37-43.. Unfortunately, every team won in the AL Central tonight including the Royals.

Re: GO ROYALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a pretty funny take from a KSU fan about all the Cards fans in the crowd:
I now believe that the Red Bird faithful are the only fans in the country with less class than CU. I have never seen as many fights in one place as what I witnessed at Kauffman on Saturday night. 25,000 drunk red necks wearing Pujols jerseys that were all looking for a fight. I saw a mother and father get arrested for fighting another couple at the concession stand while their young children stood and watched. I heard 3 intelligent fans chant fu--'n Nigg-- every time Guillen came to the plate. I saw a Royals fan get a full cup of beer poured over his head. And most importantly, I saw way too many men wearing jean shorts, which is never ever under any circumstances acceptable. I absolutely hate Cardinal fans.
