What's going on with the Chiefs? Watched them on tv today and strangely never felt like they had a chance to pull off the win.
Is all the talk of downtown stadium got into their heads?

It’s the coaching. The lack of going for it on reasonable 4th downs when they know the D is gonna give up the yards anyway is another big problem, but yet again that’s also on the coaching.

For one, Mahomes has not been as good as one might unfairly expect. Scrambling out of pressure and making improbable throws to convert or score... well, they are improbable for a reason. Which is not to let the defense off the hook, they have not been great. I think the team will probably be fine in the long run, but it has not been a very promising start so far. When you come to expect magic and get mediocrity, it can be particularly discomfiting. But whether the expectation of magic was reasonable in the first place is fair to question.

The D is bad (again), so the O is pressing.

Yeah, but once upon a time when the O pressed it worked. Third and long in a desperate situation? Touchdown! Repeatedly. Kinda got used to that, and it was probably not a fair expectation was my point.

Defenses have adjusted, not allowing big plays. Force the Chiefs to make consecutive short plays.

Increases the odds of turnovers or sacks and makes it hard to make up points when playing from behind.

Chiefs are still going to be in the Super Bowl. Everyone just needs to relax a little bit.

Obviously it's not uncommon for teams to struggle in the beginning and then right the ship, so I hesitate to make any predictions about what absolutely will or will not happen, but I feel pretty comfortable saying that the Chiefs team we have seen in the first five games is not going to the Super Bowl.

They switched tv coverage from chargers game so only could watch last quarter. Not enough to jinks them this time. Hate that when I watch full games they seem to lose

All of the sudden the Chiefs are only a game back from leading the division, lol. They looked much more like their normal self today. Big road next week against a good Titans team.

I kind of wish the Mahomes family would go away and not be allowed on the sidelines anymore, some of the stuff they are doing is pretty embarrassing and wonder if Mahomes is starting to realize this. If Brady's family did this kind of stuff, he would probably go crazy on them.

Buffalo losing tonight keeps Chiefs alive for a 1 seed. If they had won, we'd have had zero chance. Now there's atleast a path.

We also get to play the team that beat them next week.

Would be a good time to find our mojo with the tie-breaker implications.

How big of a nightmare would it be if the following scenario happened:

Jackson Co. pays to have to Royals new stadium, but can’t afford to do Chiefs also now. So Missouri state government steps in to pay, but now insists that the Chiefs split time equally between St. Louis & KC as a condition of the state paying. The Chiefs then become basically the “Missouri Chiefs”.

Basically…how angry would you get if the Chiefs ever were asked to split time with STL under any scenario?

No way the nfl will let another team sniff St Louis with that lawsuit.

We sell out 78k seats every home game. Why on earth would that even be a consideration? Why would the state want to fund two new stadiums with the same potential tax revenue?

Oh I’m not saying it will ever happen. Just wondering what the appetite would be for such an idea. Obviously I’d hate it, I just wanted to know if there’s any people out there who think STL would try bite in our team when things are in a flux in 2031.

And agreed, NFL would never let STL into the NFL anymore.

Montreal & Tampa are about to do a split project in MLB. I just really wanted to see the “oh this might be a good idea!” from people, lol.

I'm all for sharing. Just cheerleaders only not the team.

The only way that would happen is if the Chiefs were bad, like Detroit Lions bad. The Green Bay Packers did this actually, they played 2-4 home games a year at County Stadium in Milwaukee all the way until 1994 and this is when they were still selling out Lambeau field every game.
