Wizards to face Man U
This sounds like a pretty big get:
http://www.kansascity.com/2010/05/06/19 ... -july.html
One of four North American appearances, including one stop in Toronto and one at the all star game. I should think this ought to fill up Arrowhead and show off the renovation to a little different audience nicely.

don't see how anyone on here can spin this as a negative...though I look forward to some great attempts!!

I'm pumped for this...and I'm far from a big soccer fan (although I'd like to be)

This is a great get, and a wonderful opportunity for KC to showcase itself.

Does FIFA care that Arrowhead is such a narrow pitch?

Does FIFA have anything to do with European club exhibition games?
If it doesn't have street-level retail, it's an abortion.

Re: Wizards to face Man U
FIFA's only problem with Arrowhead is the corners which if we are lucky enough to get a World Cup game will be fixed.shinatoo wrote: Does FIFA care that Arrowhead is such a narrow pitch?

No they don't. I was addressing the idea that this will raise our profile as a World Cup site.WSPanic wrote:

Try to keep up.
Re: Wizards to face Man U
Yes, that's why the moveable seats would be installed in the corners if we get selected to be a WC host city. That will allow a wider and longer pitch.shinatoo wrote: Does FIFA care that Arrowhead is such a narrow pitch?

Take it to the World Cup thread! Can I get a moderator over here?shinatoo wrote: No they don't. I was addressing the idea that this will raise our profile as a World Cup site.

Someone tell the FIFA folks that the stadium is in Missouri...not Kansas. We don't need an image problem affecting our World Club bid!!WSPanic wrote: Take it to the World Cup thread! Can I get a moderator over here?

Re: Wizards to face Man U
It's imperative Kansas City steps up and sells this out as the support for this game will be closely scrutinized and have a major impact on our World Cup bid.
Man U is an absolutely huge get for KC. We have to make this count.

I don't see any way this doesn't sell out. There will be soccer dorks from all over this country coming in to see manu.
Re: Wizards to face Man U
I'm the biggest soccer fan on this board and I don't think there's a chance it will sell out. Because of the World Cup ManUre will probably missing many of their top players. If the crowd is 50,000, I'll be satisfied.

If it's 50,000 i'll be impressed. If it's a sellout of Arrowhead, i'll be astonished.KCFutbol wrote:If the crowd is 50,000, I'll be satisfied.
KC Region is all part of the same animal regardless of state and county lines.

Re: Wizards to face Man U
If Kansas City is serious about a World Cup bid, we need a sell out or close to it. Big corporate support will be critical.
I listened to the GM of the Wizards last week after the announcement and he said flat out anything less than a sellout will not bode well for our World Cup chances. For what it's worth......

Re: Wizards to face Man U
For a competitive match a sellout would be easier. For a friendly when ManUre will probably be missing a lot of their top players selling 80,000 tickets will be tough.MidtownCat wrote: If Kansas City is serious about a World Cup bid, we need a sell out or close to it. This is what I was thinking...if it doesn't sell out out or come close...we are not ready for the World Cup...and maybe neither is the USKCPowercat wrote: I don't see any way this doesn't sell out. There will be soccer dorks from all over this country coming in to see manu.
