Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
Their effort was far from 'best'. Hard foul somebody in that kind of a zone. Their past 12 is equal to ksu, ksu has beat them at their place.

Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
Yeah ATM is probably still a lock - I think the highest team left out the last couple decades was RPI 36. 27 should do the job. If KSU gets in, it isn't going to be by excluding any of the B12 teams - the Cats are really the only team that can play in or out this weekend.

Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
Anyone in the top-35 in RPI is usually a dead lock. So ATM shouldn't worry. They played a decent non-con, unlike the Purple Pussies who refused to play anyone with a pulse. It was quite embarrassing how they tried to "Bill Snyder" their way into the NCAAs.
Of course, if they beat Tex & KU, they could sneak in over Texas. You never know how the committee works, and they'd have swept Texas on the road and neutral.

I totally agree ksu's non-con was a joke and I am in no way saying they deserve to be in. I am just saying atm shouldn't be a lock from what I have seen of them. Rpi be damned.

Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
The RPI of a team isn't usually what the committee bases their final decision on. It's a part of it. They really use it to look at how a team DOES vs. the RPI teams, notably those in the top-50 or top-100. If you have a #23 RPI but are 6-1 vs. the top-50....you can be sure you'll be seeded higher than what your RPI suggests. And vice versa.

Again, thanks for this groundbreaking info guys. I hadn't heard what they use as critera for the past 2 months.

Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
Until I read a big article about it last month, I always assumed it was just a team's RPI that mattered. I'm sure others thought the same.KCPowercat wrote: Again, thanks for this groundbreaking info guys. I hadn't heard what they use as critera for the past 2 months.

Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
I think it is pretty impressive that the B12 appears to be on target for six locks with an outside chance of a seventh. A few weeks ago I was pretty skeptical that we would send more than four this year.KCPowercat wrote: I totally agree ksu's non-con was a joke and I am in no way saying they deserve to be in. Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
So that sucked. WTF Jayhawks?
Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
What a joke. Can't play any perimeter defense. If you have a guy who can shoot 3's, put a nail in our coffin. 5 seed here we come!
Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
Gotta think that kills ku's chances of playing in KC. Unless OU loses tonight or Mizzou fails to make the finals.

Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
It hurts, but I don't think it kills it. Its just one game, and they're still the regular season champs. Of the top 16 seeds, I think you send:shaffe wrote: Gotta think that kills ku's chances of playing in KC. Unless OU loses tonight or Mizzou fails to make the finals.
Philly - Pitt and UConn
Greensboro - UNC and Duke
Miami - Wake Forest and Villanova
Dayton - Louisville and Memphis
Minneapolis - Michigan State and Mizzou
KC - Oklahoma and KU
Portland - UCLA and Washington
Boise - Gonzaga and Clemson
Works for me!
Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
Yep. And I could see us as a #4 seed now. Depends of course on what a lot of other teams do as well for the next few days.shaffe wrote: Gotta think that kills ku's chances of playing in KC. Unless OU loses tonight or Mizzou fails to make the finals.

there could be other upsets today. tech loves playing spoiler. and ou and osu, rivalry is a rivalry. shit, if mu and ou got knocked out, that could pave a road for the purple!!
MU FINISHED THE YEAR RANKED HIGHER IN HOOPS AND FOOTBALL THAN THE KAY U JAYDORKS. UP YOURS KAY U JAYDORK FANS!!!!
Re: Big 12 Basketball 2008
We played OU without Griffin though. Played UT at home (would have probably lost in Austin). Got beat by Tech and Baylor. KU has ended the season very poorly, so that will reflect in their seeding.KCMax wrote: It hurts, but I don't think it kills it. Its just one game, and they're still the regular season champs. What's graciously given to KC, is strong for the region as a whole. Passion and benevolence will one day exeem towards all whom know true adoration. We shall triumph to better the community as One within
THINK (ONE) KC.
