Developments in other citities similar to speedway?

Just thinking regionally, I haven't ever heard of the type of development strategy that was implemented at the Speedway. I was just wondering if this type of thing is a first for the country in addition to the KC metro. Does anyone else know of other "tourist" developments like the Speedway elsewhere that include national mega-retail (i.e. Ikea, Bass Pro, Cabela's) all in one place?
