That is cool. Did the Concorde ever fly in/out of KCI/MCI - or is it as fictional as the fourth terminal they're showing?

That's not the Concorde, its the American version, the SST that was in development then got shelved since nobody wanted sonic booms all over the land portions of the US.

A slightly prissy note: it's Concorde, never "the" Concorde. One name, like Cher.

Concorde flew a regular schedule from Washington Dulles and New York JFK to London Heathrow (BA) and Paris Charles de Gaulle (Air France), plus occasional seasonal routes to the Caribbean and Miami from LHR. The fare code was R for Supersonic.

You could upgrade to Supersonic from Flagship First for a fee, but if Concorde was wide open, BA would often let frequent flyers switch gratis. The seats were about the size of coach, maybe a touch wider. 2x2 but there was adequate space between rows (seat pitch). The food and drinks came nonstop.

I remember riding the bus with my mother many years ago to shop at Emery Bird Thayer, as well as Kline's, Macy's, Jone's, and Peck's. Every floor was a separate, big department, including furniture. Of course, I preferred the toy department.

I think the building seen over the shoulder of the KCPL may be the proposed Civic Plaza National Bank that was to be on the site of the current MO Court of Appeals at 13th and Oak.. It was a 52 story tower proposed by Alexander Barkett who was responsible for the "remuddling" of both the SW Bell
Oak Tower and Palace Clothing Company.
The Louis Kahn building where City Center Square now is was to have been built from the top down. The corners and the inverted trusses first, then the floors hanging from that.

Some narrow buildings of the past in downtown Kansas City.

The first building was on the east side of Main Street between 8th and 9th streets. Signage indicates the tenant was the Heckel Brothers' barber supplies. You can see Gumbel Building behind and the former US Courthouse, and Waltower Building to the right.



The second building used to be the SW corner of E. 12th and Oak where the former downtown library was.



The third example is the former Frederic Hotel on E. 9th Street between McGee and Oak streets.





The Victor Building on the NW corner of 10th and Main.





US Fidelity and Guarantee Company Building on the north side of W. 10th between Baltimore and Wyandotte. The library garage is there now.

There is a sign on a building (to the right of the Mainstreet Theater dome) that indicates a business there called Yat Sen Lo Chop Suey restaurant.
