I'm really surprised. It was a go to happy hour place among my friends. Always seemed reasonably crowded. That sucks.

Boru Ramen in Waldo Closed for good. They had a staff member who worked in the kitchen for both Boru and Summit who tested positive and they didn't report it until 6 days later. Employees took to Facebook and Customers and Staff raised hell until they agreed to close. Now they say they will not reopen.

Instead of a 24 screen theatre with giant projection systems and 300 seats, I would expect they shift towards offering smaller premium experiences and double up the spaces in a renovation.

More Bar + dinner theater options and less popcorn and soda to increase the average per customer cost

More leather recliners and less long rows of airline seats. More family seating

Having more special events with older movies of note that are best on the big screen like Jaws, BTTF, Godfather, Casablanca, 2001, ET. With more spaces it becomes possible to mix in a single showing so the people who wish they could have seen a specific movie on the big screen can. One time only, $20 per person to see Jaws on the big screen could be worth it for many.

More premium one time esoteric events like silent films with a live piano player. A set of three Buster Keaton shorts would be an interesting group experience and likely being out of copyright this would be profitable even at a small scale.

Theatre shows can use movie threatres much like Hamilton is coming to Disney+ with a special recorded version. I can see having a live show that's designed to be simulcast so it's live in the theatre each night for a week or two.

Another premium event: Keep in mind things like Fathom events and other specialized theater-based exhibitions. It's a lot more fun to watch Rifftrax Live in a crowd of other bad-movie geeks than it is by yourself in your home theater.

Last summer, our local theater in West Des Moines was running exactly what you described above, i.e. movies such as Singin' in the Rain, Clockwork Orange, etc. on the big screen in the evenings. One time only events. Don't know if this will happen this year with the COVID-19 or not; they haven't opened up yet from the closures.
